It´s a lot more balanced positionally. Probably better overall, but defensively that will be a struggle. Kessler is the only plus defender in the whole rotation.

Grimes is an okay defender. But outside of Vando and Kessler, there is zero defense on that team.

I was thinking about him as well.  Maybe minimum is all there is for him, but he wanted to hold on to his bird rights last year.   Maybe Miami is the #1 option, but I thought he looked pretty good last year.   Wouldn't he fit in with Detroit?  Denver?   And several other good teams.   He seems pretty prideful and even though he has made a ton of money I could see him wanting something more.   

Would you bring him back to Dallas?   With our roster now, I would say no unless there was some changes.

No, almost no interest in having him back from my seat (Dallas might feel differently, obvs).

BUT, I would like to get a little something out of keeping him here and winning a few games they shouldn't have, if at all possible.

Zero chance of the Mavs being better than the Lakers next year. Lakers will be contenders. I doubt they can get out of the West, but they will be a top 4 seed and if Luka gets hot, anything is possible in a playoff series.

Lakers will definitely be better than the Mavs next year. But if the Mavs get 1 competent guard I’d argue the Mavs are better built for the future. Can’t expect to win much with Reaves and Kessler eating 80mil of your cap.

Ironically if Luka came back this team is the perfect team 1-5 for him. And we’d be a favorite to win.

Yep totally legal. His contract was non-guaranteed and was free to sign anywhere, but he chose to go back to ORL

Karalla just suggested on DLLS Mavs that Dallas might trade Klay Thompson to Miami for Jovic and a 1st round pick. It seems plausible, because we all know Miami is trying to get off of Jovic.

Are there any Jovic fans here? Would there be any chance of him becoming a positive, or would the only possible value be draft capital? The contract is LONG...

What's going on? It's not like they're getting big money to not move. Have the number of max contracts in the league finally grown to the point teams are having to scrimp on non-stars? Is this going to cause even more stratification with the players?

Don't know much about Jovic, although I tend to shy away from Miami players.  Especially ones who have not broken thru.   I will say I will be real cautious taking on bad contracts right now.   It can be an advantage moving forward.  

Does Miami have any picks left?   Maybe they have some in odd years.   Could we do a swap in the years our pick is going to OKC or San Antonio?

I like him enough in that hypothetical trade. I was obviously higher on Jovic last summer, before he had a bad year. I think there's something there though. Old for young is a box checked as well. He'd join the long list of guys that need a great medical staff, but getting a FRP back eases some of that.

On paper he’s a really interesting wing. 

But his contract is pretty unappetizing. I don’t think there is anything worse than dead money on the roster now and his injury history and production isn’t close to 16mil a year. You’d have to hope he’d take a next step.

I don’t think a single FRP is enough to eat that. 

But if you could look into the future and tell me he’ll average 15/5/5 with 38% from 3? Sure. Happily.

It's an interesting thing to think about, with points for and against...which is why I think it might actually be something they're looking at.
