Weird trade. I think it means more trades for both teams.

You've got to be kidding me? So what happens with Jrue, Shaedon, and Scoot? Somebody's going somewhere else.

Ja was traded without any picks being attached. MEM was right.

Scoot isn't really a point guard.
I can see the appeal as a reclamation project, but the dude has been crazy disappointing.

Well, Sharpe then!
If anyone outside of the current POR front office knows whether or not either of those dudes are worth the trouble, it's Schmitz.

Man, when I see Sharpe I think he can be the star. That may just because I caught him at the right moments in limited games. He has star talent though.
But, I also read that Splitter had not trust in him because he was lost on defense. Despite looking to be a great shooter, he really has not been. He can also be a empty stats player.
From what I gather about the player Schmitz/Masai is looking for (quick decision maker, versatile, good defender, great teammate) in a player. I get it though. His talent jumps off the court.

Maybe they're banking on Dame and Jrue being mentors to Ja. Hard for me to see it any other way, POR dumps Grant's salary and hopes their vets can screw Ja's head on straight.

The problem with this trade isn’t even that we know, factually, that Morant is done being great – because we just don’t know that.
The problem is that it 100%, by definition, automatically takes the ball out of Deni Avdija’s (sp?) hands.

Yep. The only hope Deni has to touch the ball is on rebounds and tip-ins.
Maybe they’ll let him inbound the ball every once in awhile.

Lol
I understand the points he is making about Gafford and now Avdija but I dunno why he's being so dramatic. Was Deni Avdija going to lead the Blazers to a title? Likewise, the Mavs are a rebuilding team with nobody that can play center. Having Gafford around isn't keeping them from doing anything.

I mean, you can take it that extreme if it satisfies some itch for 4th grade humor, but I know you don't think that's what I meant.
The point stands, and I think it's valid: Morrant brings much to the table, despite his basement bottom rep right now, even if he's in decline, but one thing he has NEVER been is an off-ball player.

Is Morant going to do that?
I'm not saying you don't make a move that decreases Avija's on-ball role, but I wouldn't have done it for Morant. I don't think saying so is dramatic at all.
If you like this trade, that's fine! Talking about these things is what we're all here to do!

I think it’s probably the bombastic way you state opinions that brings out the 4th-grader in me.
Kinda fun, actually.

Hmm..."bombastic." Ok, if you say so.
I'm all for people having fun around here!
