Did the Suns send two additional second round picks to the Knicks, which means Mavs paid with Ajinca rights, two of their own 2nd round picks + two of the Suns 2nd round picks (just acquired) to move from 30 to 25.
This is my question, too.
If they really like the kid, neither would bother me, but one scenario would be more impressive, for sure.

Have also heard there are a few teams interested in moving up to either No. 31 or No. 32 for Meleek Thomas.
Henri Veesaar is not expected to fall past No. 34 to Cavs, if he's there.
Isaiah Evans is also expected to be one of the first few picks, with MIN as a likely spot.

The pre-draft expectation, sources tell @TheSteinLine & @DLLS_Sports, was that Sergio De Larrea would likely spend next season in Europe again.
Told that 2026-27 plans now that he's Dallas-bound -- including whether De Larrea plays summer league -- are all being worked through.

We send Ajinca and two 2nd rounders to the Knicks. Okay. What did we get from the Suns? Surely we don´t just give them 1st round picks for free.

We get nothing from the Suns. The Mavs PAID to move up from 30 to 25. The cost was (2) SRP's and Ajinca's draft rights. What NYK gets from PHX for 30 afterwards is not part of the Mavs equation. That's how I see it.

That's worded poorly. "Now that he's Dallas bound" could imply that it has literally been decided he'll be here this year, which would make the broader meaning of the the second sentence about buyouts, legally moving to a new country last minute, etc.
Or, "now that he's Dallas bound" could be interpreted simply as "now that Dallas has drafted him," in which case the broader meaning might be about deciding whether or not he'll come over right away or not.
I lean towards the first meaning, but my goodness the last 24 hours haven't been a great snapshot of NBA journalism.

If it's a 3-team deal, as was reported, I think something has to change hands between DAL and PHX, right?

It was a 4-team deal. Lakers were included. Hell, I don't know that we'll ever know the full details.

Would hate nothing more than a euro stash. Just doesn't work. If he is worth trading up for he also deserves a roster spot. And if you draft a guy in the first round and aren't anywhere close to competing you better find minutes for him.

I hadn't heard that the Lakers/Knicks swap from 24-25 was part of it. I thought that was a separate transaction entirely. I HAVE seen this other business reported as a 3-team deal, which is why Mavs2021 was asking if some of the picks being reported as what Dallas gave up might have actually come from PHX, which is a reasonable question, imo.
It's going to drive me crazy if we never get definitive answers to this.

I agree. The combination of giving up three small assets to move up five spots and then stashing the prize of that maneuver would put a sizable damper on this piece of business for me. I think he's coming right away, but I want to hear/read someone say that clearly.

IDK it says pretty plainly "as part of a four-team trade" in the press release. Maybe 6 more tweets between Shams and Stein will clear it up before round 2 starts

NBA 2nd commish: With the 47th pick the selection is Jaden Bradley. Which team actually owns this pick we have no clue. It´s between the Suns, Mavs, Knicks and Lakers. We´ll get back to you in three months.

You're right - I skimmed and missed that detail.
I have even less understanding of the deal now than I did before we figured that out, unfortunately.

My guess is that he will come over. But he's currently playing in the playoffs and will also require a buyout when the season is over. So there's an order to what people can definitively say.

Hope that is not a bad omen. Turn on game four of ACB finals. First thing I see is DeLarrea getting scored on and misses two FTs. FTs wasn´t him.

Spotrac says it's legal as is:
LAL: Pick 24
DAL: Pick 25
PHX: Pick 30
NYK: Pick 47, Plus SRP's, draft rights, cash

I just mean that the Mavs don't have to get anything from PHX here. So, in the end they get Pick 25 and give up (2) SRP's. Which future seconds is yet to be determined.
