Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027
(06-23-2026, 08:41 AM)SleepingHero Wrote: Perhaps. They technically could easily free up the remaining 10 mil they need to get to Reaves' max in the draft.

But its definitely more likely that Reaves elects to stay in LA. The question is for how much. Reaves on a max deal is a nail in the coffin for LA.

I think losing him for nothing is a much worse outcome Smile

I really wonder why BKN just "gifted" Claxton to Chicago. They had the cap space to take full Randle contract. One would think that he has some value, especially with several teams (Boston, Chicago, Charlotte, LA,...) looking for centers. They were demanding high prices in the past for him. Will they go aggresively after one of the RFAs?

Maybe Claxton's perceived value is much higher than his actual one, either due to unseen issues like locker room problems or motivation ones?

Or maybe Brooklyn wants Kessler?

Or maybe they just really valued Randle?

Honestly now thinking about, doesn't this make Brooklyn the ideal trade up candidate for Dallas? At #9 BRK can select Mara, Mavs can get to #6 and get Acuff?

For the part about valuing Randle - Claxton didn't need to be included to make the deal happen. It could be just BKN and Minny.

Keith Smith might have the answer - BKN can actually keep all of their cap space as Claxton for Randle is a legal trade and can be formalized after BKN uses the cap space.

Oh interesting. So theoretically BRK is still in play for max space for 1 of the bigger FAs like Reaves, Kessler, or Mathurin?

Looks like it. Or they can sell it to teams looking to shed salaries or whatever. But, they must have something lined up, otherwise they literally just gifted Claxton.

To be honest, I am a bit surprised Lakers didn't announce a new deal with Reaves yet, as it would not have any impact on other moves they make.

The Minnesota Timberwolves hope that trading Julius Randle will prove to be addition by subtraction, per @JonKrawczynski

“Edwards wants to win right now, and the Wolves are banking on addition by subtraction, believing that removing Randle’s ISO-heavy offensive game and redistributing his 15.3 shots per game to McDaniels and Reid will open things up for Minnesota in a different way.”

This is real.

Guess I'm ignorant of what's going on here - what is that a screenshot of?

I wonder if Brown trade happens today. I could see Clippers offer #5 and future draft assets, but matching salaries would be almost impossible without Kawhi or Garland. Also not sure if Boston is interested in pick heavy package.

NO could have an interesting offer with Murphy as the centerpiece (Boston was rumored to have interest in Murphy). Add for example Herb Jones, Missi and other assets. Atlanta could offer for example Daniels, Risacher, #8 and NAW (and other draft compensation).

I see some rumors that Klay might be interesting for Miami. Mitchel for Klay works straight up. Would you take a flier on Jovic (overpaid but still just 23)?

Realapp- social media for sports, specifically stats.

Lots of athletes are apart of it (probably paid to be apart of it) and Jaylen Brown went to it and voiced his displeasure of being included in a Giannis trade.

Basically saying "Can you believe Boston tried to trade me? Lets mock Brad Stevens for even thinking about that"

I think those rumors are folks just spitballing based on MIA’s need for shooters. But it does create some interesting scenarios for discussion.

@Fullcourtpass
The Celtics could trade Jaylen Brown as soon as TODAY if a 2026 first-round pick is part of the deal, per @WindhorstESPN

You might be onto something there.

I don't understand, which FRP? Miami just traded them away Smile

I agree that Klay is unlikely for Miami. I could see them dumping Jovic to gain flexibility. I could also see them trading Wiggins for better shooter(s) and less money to again gain more flexibility for rest of the roster.

The Pistons are looking to acquire Norman Powell, per @TheSteinLine & @JakeLFischer

“Sources say that the Pistons indeed intend to add Powell, who is coming off his first All-Star season, to their list of potential offseason targets as they look to add shooting and playmaking in support of star guard Cade Cunningham.”

The Miami Heat are now potentially looking to trade Nikola Jović, per @TheSteinLine & @JakeLFischer

“It has also been suggested that Miami could look now to move Nikola Jović to try to acquire some shooting to help space the floor for Antetokounmpo and his new frontcourt sidekick Bam Adebayo.”

I'm a fan of Klay for Jovic.  Not sure what else would need to be included.  He had a down year last year, but there is some talent there and a good fit with Flagg.

Feels like a natural fit for both teams. Probably 1 for 1. No picks either way?

Agree to participate in the Middleton S&T as well?
