Their thought process seems to be about Schmitz's perceived role in Portland drafting Yang Hansen, along with the Dusty May element.
I just can't imagine the Mavs would be so stupid, but I'm getting worried, I admit.

If they wanna go with more ready made prospects in a trade down to 12/17. It’d be hard to beat Yaxel+Stirtz. Both are dinged because of age, but both project to be instant contributors. Can’t remember who it was that brought up taking advantage of Coop on a rookie deal. Those two would probably be in a similar category.
Not my preference of course, but can see the logic anyway.

I mean, anything seems like a good idea compared to drafting Aday Mara at 9, imo.

So now you'd take Wilson? Or reach?

EIther way. Willson has a slightly deeper offensive bag than I initially thought, but it's not deep enough to address what's wrong with the Mavs, I don't think, and I believe his defense is quite overrated. I get why he's so hyped, but I'd probably use that opportunity to ensure I got Brown Jr, personally.
Either way, it's better than taking Mara at 9 or trading down to draft Mara or Steinbach.

Burries is basically a Bane starter kit, but he’s just a tad bigger, longer, and more skilled at a younger age. Bane is a max player and is Burries’ floor. That’s a great starting point. I’m not passing on him. However, if Atlanta swipes him, all bets are off. Hopefully, in that case, the Mavs could pull off a trade down and draft Rez or Hannes plus Philon/Carr/Stirtz.

Tbh, I wasn't including 48 in my calculus. I meant, they do something like trade down for two picks, and trade Gafford and 30 to move up to a cushier range.

Oh, I see. I don't think that's a particularly likely scenario, but we'll find out in less than 24 hours!

I'm a Burries fan but Bane is not his floor. Bane was a better 3 point shooter in college and he wildly outperformed expectations in NBA. No guarantee Burries will do the same.

May be….but i thought he came off very articulate and thoughtful when discussing his decision. I’d be happy to have his smug arse on our team!

If we don't get one of the top PGs in top 10, I really like the possibilities of Sergio De Larrea at 30.
Similar to Rubio but a great shooter and playmaker/passer and more athletic. Not the same defender but not bad and at 6'6 with 6'9 WS he could become solid. High BBIQ and could become a primary floor general. Court vision is elite.
Turnovers and finishing are the major concerns along with light weight at 175lbs.
I like the high and quick release of his 3pt shooting. His passing is fun to watch.

We do need multiple guards.

He'd take Wilson or I'd murder him. This is the dream I'm speaking into existence.

I'm struggling with the fit of Flagg and Wilson. Put a center with those two and you have no spacing.

Flagg fits with anyone. Wilson dunks on everyone. Problem solved.

Man..we're all over the place.
Some speculating we're drafting Mara at 9. Some Morez. Others saying we're moving down and getting Morez. Then we're debating if Wilson will fit in with Flagg.
I hope the actual draft day doesn't turn out to be a downer after all these numerous speculations and possibilities that are thrown around.

I do wonder whom Masai will target with our MLE. Would assume it would be a 3-pt shooter.

The draft was already going to be a semi-downer when we didn't draw a top four pick.
