Dude, I totally forgot about the Kidd buyout, lol. Details not released, but you have to think it was at least most of the $40 million he had coming. GREAT POINT.

It's nice to know that Cuban approves. He's pretty smart.

It’s obvious now that Cuban suffers from massive insecurity. He has lost the plot.

I am tentatively happy with the Dusty May hiring. My biggest concern is he going to be allowed to "coach" the team. I think so--or he wouldn't have taken the job. This will be interesting.

Frock Cuban. He's not as smart as he thinks...

Kidd has many faults but let’s not forget that  Luka ran RC out of town.

Doesn’t count unless he was on the stairmaster while tweeting that

So pumped with the May hire. With Masai, Schmitz, and May this summer is already turning out awesome and we haven't even gotten to roster changes yet.

To my tea leaf reading hermeneutic, the May hire by Masai indicates a plan to 1) win now (not in the sense of a championship, but at least fielding a playoff team) 2) with a team comprised of *young* players.

I agree completely with the *young* player part, including what I take to be the implication of your asterisks. I don't know how hiring a coach who's completely new to this level indicates in any way that it's a priority to win as many games as possible in the near future, at least in a primary, "at all costs" sort of way. My read would be the opposite: that they're prepared to make an investment in someone with the potential to be a great NBA coach as he learns and grows on the job.

You want Mara or Lendeborg @ Warriors and Thunder? Our new head coach loves them. We happy to take them at #9. You better get serious. They definitely playing some sort of angle here, otherwise they´d have kept it quiet until Friday. Ujiri is no leaking blabbermouth.

Also I saw May´s interviews and he sounded like a very smart and competent human being. Great age, too. Was actually my #1 choice. No doubt the players will love him on a personal level.
Mara may be the actual pick.

Not sure I buy the idea that the Mavs will now prioritize young raw players. I think May will have to be able to win with the best talent the Mavs can amass, and don't see them doing a mass fire sale of experienced players on their roster to make room for lesser-talented youngsters.

But you get 5 stars from me for the word hermeneutic. Nice.

Josh Schertz, one of Dusty May's close friends, weighs in on the Michigan coach leaving for the NBA:

"Super happy for Dusty. He has the temperament and acumen to coach anywhere in the world. He's one of the best basketball coaches in the world."

One thing I've already learned in my 1/2 day deep dive on Dusty May, from scratch: He's an exceptional communicator. This seems to be a trend for the new look Mavericks as they fill positions, and I think it's a very good one.

Yeah that is what I picked up on too.  Really seems like a strong and clear communicator.  Also doesn’t try to fit round holes into square pegs.

Coming to the nba with no experience is a huge learning curve.  He doesn’t  appear to be any way or the highway type.  Those college coaches always worry me.

He just seems to fit with Masai and Schmitz.

Okay. I think you're way overstating the *raw* young players thing. I don't think Masai intends to bring in a bunch of projects and say, "Here ya go, Dusty, get to work on winning!" But with the right rookies, players still on their first or second contracts, and of course Cooper freaking Flagg, as well as a smattering of vets, well, that, to me reflects May's capabilities of building a winner quickly.

Being an exceptional communicator was certainly NOT true of past management - Nico with anyone (good grief, he was such a dolt), and Kidd with the media (although Kidd was apparently incredible with his players).

It should be a very different world going forward.

Was listening to Sturm and Corby. Really pumped up because as they said Dumont can’t change the past but at least he is going all in with the money to correct his past sins.

I think Avery was a pretty great communicator, as well!
