2026 NBA draft thread
(06-15-2026, 04:11 PM)HoosierDaddyKid Wrote: Sources told KSL Sports that Darryn Peterson’s camp is “very confident they are going #1,” prompting the change in this week’s plans. Despite that expectation, there has been “plenty of communication” between the Jazz and Peterson, and the Kansas guard was not “trying to avoid Utah at all.” Teams often know the likely top overall pick entering the final week before the draft. As of Monday, Peterson’s decision to cancel his workout with the Jazz, while AJ Dybantsa maintained his visit, suggests a shift at the top of the draft.

KOC states that Peterson shares the same agency as K. George and that they don't want them on the same team.  That is probably the reason he did not work out for Utah.

Two teams I’m hearing that would love to make a huge splash in the draft:

1) Utah:. The whole Jazz organization would be ecstatic if it could somehow move up a spot and draft ex-BYU star AJ Dybantsa with the first overall pick.
But if that doesn’t happen, the Jazz could still move back slightly and perhaps pick former Arkansas star PG Darius Acuff Jr., whom some teams are simply raving about.
“He is smooooth,” a Hall of Fame guard recently told me about Acuff. “I wouldn’t have any probable taking him at three, even two.”

2) Minnesota: The Timberwolves have only the 28th overall pick at this point, but appear open to trading anyone on their roster not named Edwards.
An NBA coach also added that he regards the Timberwolves as his “sleeper pick” in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.

From Krysten Peek:

“If the Clippers wanted to move down and get some size instead (Aday Mara, Nate Ament, Yaxel Lendeborg), conversations with the Kings at seven and Mavericks at nine have been entertained”

Some draft buzz from @BrettSiegelNBA:

- Dallas has shown interest in Tennessee's Nate Ament
- Brayden Burries chatter is relatively quiet outside of the rumbles that Klutch may try to push him to Dallas
- The Mavericks have shown interest in Darius Acuff Jr.
- Dallas is interested in Cam Carr

Clippers have “multiple strong offers on the table” from other teams regarding their 5th pick

If there is any truth to this then I am getting worried.

I heard an interview from him on the Kevin O’Conner podcast and boy is he a good interview.  So good that I don’t think he makes it to 9 now.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to watch the draft this year. The nets taking a non guard and brown jr/Burries going before 9 would give me the chance at one of the three guard I like more.

Combining some of Smitty‘s nuggets:

If some team falls in love with Acuff after Brunson lead the Knicks to a title, one of the top 4 prospects falls to 5.
And if the Clippers are still loving a big and open to trading down things could get interesting, right?

I have seen 2 more older Kingston interviews.
Dude knows the game.
He watches tape.
He observes in-game.
Makes adjustments in-game.
He understands the game.
He dissects it.

I'm fairly confident, Kingston would know how to adjust with NBA play.

Difficult? Perhaps. But the talent is undeniable. Most prospects nowadays have an air of arrogance around them. Like the NBA is a given. Don't really like that from Peterson.

But its hard to overlook his 2-way ability and freakish athleticism. On paper he's the ideal running mate for Coop, and if he falls and is actually a choice for the Mavs, he should be picked no questions asked.

I feel so bad for people who think they have to be Utah jazz fans. It’s almost an annual tradition that some big stud in the draft does everything in their power to avoid ending up there. We went through this all with Ace Bailey last year, and he was far from the first.

I finally went to Utah last year and everyone was nice.

I assumed everyone would be walking around looking like Amish people. I dunno why I thought Mormons would be dressed like the Amish.

One of my best friends spent a week in SLC to do a network install in the late 90s and the stories he told about, I'm not even sure how to describe this well....naive stereotyping  was almost endearing as there was no malice behind it, but it also wasn't a onetime occurrence in a very short trip.
