AROUND the NBA:
I couldn't be more impressed with Castle.   Not only does he take the best player and really makes them work, but he is making huge shots as well.  What bright future.

Even taking Wemby out, a backcourt of Castle and Harper is going to give the West fits with their size, skill and physical play.   You better be damn good if you are a small guard.   Not sure you can survive if you have a small guard and trying to compete against SA/OKC and others.

Spurs guards are doing a good job making things tough for JB.

This is true. The Spurs guards and the team itself are going to be a problem for everybody moving forward.

I’ll die on that hill. D Wade is giving Kobe some fits. And MJ. They’re better, but it ain’t no walk in the park. Not a prime D Wade, no. It’s even to me. Kobe’s better, but it ain’t clear. Out of 10 days, he’s not getting the better of him all 10 days. I got 6-4… He has one of the best rings ever. Year 3, to take a team and be the man and get that sh*t done? I commend that.”

I disagree. Thoughts?

Not a crazy take. Hate Wade but at least his peak is just as good or even better than Kobe's. Kobe has him beat in longevity and that's why it isn't all that close overall but for one season or one finals run 06 or 09 Wade is up there with any guard I have ever watched (starting in the late 90s/early 00s). But Wade couldn't stay healthy and wasn't able to adapt his game.
Kobe basically had three careers in one. Slashing two-way guard next to Shaq. All offense and volume numbers post Shaq/pre Gasol. High IQ shot creator playing more of a forward role in his late prime (MVP, championship years 08-10).

That's a fair take. Most would still have Kobe ranked slightly ahead of him. Where do you think James Harden is in the equation, top 5?  Most people don't like his playing style, but for a couple of years, including his MVP season, he was unstoppable, even with all the foul-baiting. Hall of Famer for sure.

Better offensive engine than both Wade and Kobe if we are just talking about the regular season. Not as resilient in the playoffs. And obviously way worse on defense.

The Bulls, league sources say, have begun bringing select candidates to Chicago for in-person interviews this week following the team's array of virtual meetings in search of the successor to Billy Donovan as head coach. Trail Blazers acting coach Tiago Splitter, Hawks assistant coach Ryan Schmidt and Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori are among the Chicago finalists, sources say.

Arguably, the largest pushback on this possibility came from ESPN's Brian Windhorst, who spoke recently on ESPN's Get Up. Not only did Windhorst argue that the Celtics aren't ready to trade Brown, but he also said he thinks Giannis wants to join the Miami Heat. “The team to watch here is Miami. Miami would say ‘we've got Tyler Herro, who is a young player and has been an All-Star," Windhorst said. "We got draft picks, including the 13th pick in this draft… And Giannis, I think, wants to be in Miami. There are more check marks on Miami. I’m not sure Boston is ready to trade Jaylen Brown." Tim Bontemps: "The Heat has a fine package. I would say that if Giannis winds up on the Heat, it's for one of two reasons. It's either because he puts his thumb on the scale and says I'm only going to play for the Heat, which frankly, to this point, Giannis has shown no sign of doing any of that stuff with any of this stuff, and so I would not anticipate that happening. And the other part is if teams are just wary of outbidding Miami. Because I think if other teams decide to that are the teams that have been discussed decide to get in the mix, I think they all have enough to outbid the Heat if they choose to actually say, we want to go down the road with Giannis and sign up to have a guy who's going to be on the team till he's 36, 37 with, you know, a gigantic contract on the books and some of the potential long-term downsides that could come with that."

Jorge Sierra: As of now, Victor Wembanyama would replace LeBron James as the youngest player in NBA history to lead the playoffs in scoring. Only has 23 points more than Jalen Brunson, though. Also: LeBron would still be No. 1 if the series goes to Game 7.

Wemba destroyed Chet. No excuses.

Randle is a very talented players but he is and overpaid tweener. Maybe good from the bench for a contender.

NBA declines to upgrade Wemby's foul on Brunson, although they agree it was a missed call.

Has Wemby turned into Silver's pet cat?
