2026 NBA draft thread
(04-14-2026, 11:00 AM)DanSchwartzgan Wrote: Doesn't Acuff feel like a done deal if he's there when the Kings draft.  Interesting that Philon went over Flemings.

I can see Brown going anywhere from 5th to late lottery depending on the back situation.  He's the highest upside and highest downside of the bunch.

I would hate OKC getting Burries.  He and Wallace (assuming the pay Wallace) would be really tough on-ball defenders to deal with.

I look forward to listening to this.

I like Burries more than all the guys from 8 to 11. If this was how it played out, I´m hoping Presti is calling the Thunder and offers them #8 for #12 and #17. Big Grin

Burries' no-show against Michigan turned me off. It was his time to shine, and he seemed to disappear. The NBA is the big stage, as is a big tournament game.

Maybe he can shave his head, so we can see how much he really looks like Josh Green. Big Grin Big Grin

1. Dybantsa - Wizards
2. Peterson - Pacers
3. Boozer - Nets
4. Wilson - Jazz
5. Acuff - Kings
6. Brown Jr. - Grizzlies
7. Wagler - Hawks
8. Philon - Mavericks
9. Mara - Bulls
10. Flemings - Bucks
11. Lendeborg - Warriors
12. Burries - Thunder

I haven't finalized anything yet, but I had sort of come to a conclussion that I woudl be fine with any of the Acuf, Flemings, Wagler pairing.   At 7, you will have the choice of at least one.    I think there is a shot one makes it to 8.   9 is very questionable.

I will need to do a deeper dive on Brown (seen the most), Philon and Burries if I would be ok with those if we dropped to 8 or lower.

I find it really hard to disqualify a player based on a small sample size. Like one game.

I liked Philon early on when I wasn't sure of the Mavs position. Then I sort of lost thinking about him much as he didn't seem to be in that 7-12 range.

In retrospect, I wish I had watched some of his games. I actually like him at least as much as I do Flemmings. His offensive stats are solid everywhere. The defensive narrative on him is that he's not a plus defender - but that can be said of almost every true PG in the first round.

There's something positive to be said I think for him returning to college this last year in order to work on his game. He's a more secure pick than Brown even if he's not as big or athletic as Brown. He looks like his 6'4" size, shoots well from the perimeter, and had two promising years in college already.

This will all depend on where the Mavs fall in the draft, but Philon is a player I would consider.

I want the Mavs to nail this pick. There are several players that are near equal. How did he do when the chips were down? Yeah, it was one game. What criteria should we use? What tie breaker do you want to use?

Gotta look at the body of work, and the trajectory.

Looked like, in a big game, against other guards who were not his main competition, he didn't do well. It was his time to shine. He didn't. Didn't look like a gamer. When the going gets tough...

Momcilovic is an incredible shooter but not sure he can stay on an NBA court.  I saw him really go off against Arizona.

With Portland advancing in the playoffs, Chicago will now have it's

#15. The Bulls already had their own pick.

That would have worked out really well, if we had taken the risk of the 2026 lottery protected Portland pick in an AD/Chicago trade.  Taking the 2026 Cavs pick in an AD/Hawks trade would have developed badly.

I guess Marks is saying they get the 9th pick as well. Hell, I dunno. Smile

Yes. The Bulls have pick 9, pending the lottery results, & pick 15 via Portland.
