Mavs ended up with 3 1st rd picks in the absolute worst draft in history. Is this draft comparable to it or the better drafts.
Playoff run is pretty much a guarantee of running into OKC from this point forward?
The inability to answer those two questions leads me to factoring the odds. The odds say that injuries preventing us from climbing high enough to avoid the play in and A 1ST RD dismissal is LESS THAN this being a repeat of the Courtney Alexander, Etoe Thomas and Donnell Harvey (9, 10, & 22) draft
This made me go back and look at the 2000 draft. And it was horrible. I remember doing so much research on those guys because the Mavs were picking in the lottery. I remember thinking that Keyon Dooling was going to be star and we needed to get him.
Never would have guessed we'd acquire two more firsts. And then all 3 picks would be terrible. Even if we could hand pick three guys right now with those picks, i'm not sure we'd be happy. I guess we could have went Turkoglu at 12, Q. Richardson or Mo Peterson at 13, DeShawn Stevenson at 22. But none of those guys were stars.
We did get Najera in the 2nd round, but Michael Redd was picked 5 picks later and was the best player from that draft. So yea. Terrible draft.

This choice doesn't exist.
Perhaps a participation trophy.

This draft is generational. It’s nothing like 2000. You want multiple picks.

I agree and is the only reason I would advocate selling for slightly less than market value for our players at this trade deadline or maybe June is due to the outlook of this draft.
I do not want to trade Naji, but if salary relief and a pick in this draft are on the table, then I probably can’t say no. In fact, I might consider leveraging future picks to get a second swing at this dance.
