Dirk Nowitzki rules out becoming the Mavericks next GM

I don't see him as a GM now.  I also wouldn't want him to be a GM in the future.  I would hate to see him bad at it.   GM is a tough job and with youngish kids he is probably looking for something with more freedom now.

Ideally, I would love to see him replace Cuban as a voice in the room.  I think he would take a more level headed approach and probably has a much better feel for talent than Cuban.   He would probably be much easier to deal with too.

Dirk would be the same mistake as Kidd.  We don't need a former player/coach who has no front office experience.  We need somebody that actually knows what they are doing, especially considering they have such an inexperienced owner.

I don't want him as GM but i think he wants to stay away from this toxic organization.

Tim MacMahon says Patrick Dumont has reached out to Dirk Nowitzki to mend the relationship between the Mavericks and him.

Dirk is “open minded” to joining the franchise in a meaningful capacity, not just a glorified mascot.
