JET making excuses for the Mavs ineptitude, saying it's a "weird" time of the season with the All Star break coming up.  Well, it didn't seem to bother the Wizards.  They similarly made the excuse of Kobe's death after the Suns loss, but it didn't seem to affect the Suns.

Mavs defense is absolutely attrocious at this moment. Luka is supposed to be a bad defender yet defense is even worse without him. A half decent team would again easily beat them by 20. 

They don't have any idea how to defend pick and roll. They switch everything even when not needed so that KP with 5 fouls ends on Beal. We were so lucky Beal missed that one. Bertans and Beal were continously left open on the three. Seems like guys just don't communicate or what. Absolutely horrible performance. Said before the game - defense is key against Wizards.

How can you allow a layup with 1,8 to go!?!?!?!? That was so stupid. 

But hey, you got to love our boys in blue and no assets are needed.

Defense played relatively well on the clutch moments (in the rest of the game they SUCKED). Our offense blowed this lead. In 4 minutes we made 1 FUCKING BASKET (DFS 3) and 2 FT (KP 1-2 and THJ 1-2). Curry and THJ with BAD Turnovers. Maxi and DFS are too One-dimensional on offense. Not sure why KP can't play WITH Maxi in RC's head (maybe Bertans?). With 4 SECONDS AND THE BALL IN OUR COURT, GAME TIED, RC DOESN'T CALL A TO and gets bailed by Bonga. What a joke. Very irritating. Jackson and Broekhoff should be out of our rotation IF we make the post season.

I don't like Rick obsession with going small since Powell has been out. Feels its not going to work. Stop adjusting to the opposite team and play big. Kleber and KP are mobile enough.

if Luka is back, Kleber should start or WCS. And not those shitty undersized smaller lineups. Dwight injury killed that team, if WCS cant replace him.

We're 7 games up on them with 30 to go.  That would be a pretty epic collapse.

Part of the problem is that we lose a lot of points because Wright continues to refuse to shoot the open three and instead passes the ball to another player, who then has to try to create ANOTHER good look for somebody and then the clock is running out.  And, too often, that leads to us not scoring on that possession.  He has got to shoot that open three.  I don't see why Rick is not on him to shoot that, as he seems to shoot at least as well as DFS, who seems to have a bright green light.

I disagree. This is all result of bad defense. Because if defense would be half decent, Mavs would lead by 20 at halftime. Second game in a row Mavs shot 40 % from 3 and lost. So, 40 % from 3, only 13 turnovers and still they lost. This is bad defense and nothing else. Meanwhile, thankfully Memphis lost too, but OKC is cruising to victory with ease.

Of course the game was lost on D. No debate on that. We should be up at least double digits by half time. Despite all of that we still had a small lead. When finally the defense woke up , we made 1 FG in the last 4 minutes.

Rewatched last action carefully. DFS made a stupid mistake by ramming into Wagner 35 feet from the basket. Beal didn't use the block, he went same way he came. DFS was lost there as he was behind Wagner at that time. That's whyTHJ hesitated to switch on Beal, because if he would, Wagner would be open for layup same as Beal was - DFS would be left behind Wagners back. Pure DFS mistake or lack of communication (didn't know Wagner will come from behind). Wright was way too late with the help defense, he should have moved sooner.

Correct play would be for DFS to go below Wagner block and THJ switch on Beal. Either he would shoot a difficult three or time would run out.

We lost because we started courtney lee to save face after we failed to bring in an asset (even a frikin 2025 2nd rounder would have been better than nothing) for him and use the Barnes TPE. The Mavs don’t seem to be solely focused on winning a championship, which is the only reason to even play this game, to win. Instead we do petty bs like start Courtney Lee, to make some sort of statement?? Lets say okay its fine to giveup this year, and try to contend next year. Then why start Lee!? Give young guys the minutes to develop them in what should be the last “tanking” (not trying to win a ring) season. Not a frikin vet who is last on the guard depth chart, and shouldn’t even be here because he should have been traded. Not bashing Lee, he seems like the utmost professional, but this is Rick Donnie and Cuban’s fault
