Milwaukee wouldn't do that, for the same reason they wouldn't trade Giannis for Luka (yes, I believe the reports that Harrison asked). AD's deal is up in 1.5 years, and he'd be out of there as fast as possible. I suppose it's conceivable that MIL could entice him by pre-agreeing to that extension everyone is so worried about, but I don't see it, honestly. I think if/when Giannis gets traded, it will be on HIS terms, to a team of HIS choosing, and I don't think playing with an 18 year old is what he'll be interested in doing. I have an unhealthy bias against his whole family, and have always found his style pretty off-putting, so I wrote him off years ago, but there are many smart national NBA observers who seem to still be buying land on Lamello island. I beat the LaMelo drum for a while over the summer in discord. Just because I think he's a poor man's Luka and this team was built for a player with his skillset. But the most recent fantasy trade posted here that involves the Hornets is probably more realistic and maybe even the better option. Bridges+Sexton+3 FRPs (one of which is the Mavs '27 back).

Although, if you were into fantasy stuff, there are several unrealistic things that could happen this summer. Giannis asks out and lists Mavs as one of his preferred destinations. Atlanta isn't on the list. Would they be interested in a healthy AD. MIL would get PJ and Gafford (or a pick either could bring back) and a bunch of picks from ATL and DAl? The issue is I feel like other teams could beat Dallas offer without trying to add teams into an unlikely trade.

I'm not sure CHA would be into that deal, but I do think there will be significant interest from around the league in acquiring AD, should he be made available. The contract/cap rules make things difficult, but AD is still a difference maker for a team that actually has a star player in place worthy of contention. Harrison's mistake was expecting Kyrie to be that, imho.

I don't think it's worth "dreaming about". Agree with this perspective Smitty & KL. Just figured I'd throw it out there since he'd be one of the few players you'd actually consider expending assets for, rather than trying to accumulate them. The other funny option is Trae, considering the draft ties to Luka.

I mean...the salary match could be significant in a 3-4 team trade, maybe? Everyone trying to do anything right now is up against the same difficult salary cap constraints, after all.

It would certainly speak to his relationship with Kidd. Personally, I've always thought that was a bit exaggerated. The Bucks are probably kicking themselves that they said no to Luka 9 months ago... I'm absolutely out on Trae. Same goes for Ja.
If the Mavs plan to bring in a outside GM or even talk to people, I believe they cannot make moves until that person is in place. It needs to be their vision imo. So seeing how quick they hire a permament GM may tell you how urgent they want to be to make a move or two.
If they decide to move AD, you set high expecations and don't budge. I dislike a lot of things about Morey, but he is a guy who isn't afraid to wait for the right deal.

Tons of smoke about the MIL conversations, and depending on who you believe, Harrison tried to talk to Minnesota, too. Ultimately, it's predictable they'd both say no, honestly. Again, there's no chance Luka would've stayed in either place for very long.

I would take him in a heartbeat. He's a knucklehead but I also think he's a borderline basketball savant.
