Naw.  It's easy to put them in the top tier because we don't really know who they are yet.

PG: whoever is better that makes a lot more difference than most of the other positions we win on that one point with Kyrie being the better player by far. Depth is stronger with both Exum and Dlo plus last years find B Will bonus Nembhard likely will suffer from not getting minutes with as many PG's as we now have.

SG: they have Amen but nothing behind him worth talking about. With Klay and Max we are deeper and far more deadly from the 3. I would say with our guys experience the advantage is ours.

SF: Cooper is a rookie but if he is as special a rookie as we are led to believe then there is no comparison and we are better off here. They have DFS or Tari starting depending on who you talk to and we have PJ and Naji available behind Cooper. Maybe they use Jabari here as well. Cooper will soak up a lot if not most of the minutes so PJ will be coming off the bench a lot at PF as well

PF: AD vs KD is a tough call both score about as much and they have injury histories as well to talk about. Behind AD is PJ solid and a starter quality backup to secure superior depth and he should provide better production than Jabari though he has the size advantage over PJ and almost scores as much. NOTE Kai Jones may be resigned and if so he may play as a backup PF in addition to playing minutes as a center. That could give us the size advantage in such a matchup. Kai could take another step in the direction of becoming a rotation member and force PJ to play mostly at SF and to get more minutes we might see Cooper then playing the 2 or even PG or at the 4 against KD if it works to shut him down.

C: Alperen is clearly the better weapon on offense but with depth and an ability to defend we have either Lively or Gafford who can do the job on the defensive end and that should help contain his scoring. They added Capela and had Adams so they do have options if needed but they are more defensive weapons than offensive.

Offensively the Mavs are the better team when healthy

Defense we have the best front court in the NBA but till we see Cooper scoring like Luka did most of us will be disapointed after having had Doncic tearing up the league for the past few years.

I would give Dallas the edge defensively at PG and Houston an edge over us on defense at the SG.
Front court strength is almost even but if Cooper lites up the NBA then he is a difference maker.

If only one could tell anything about basketball from a simple, position-to-position comparison.
