Mavs could have beat that right? okoro is a former lottery pick but really hasn’t proven to be a playoff player. Two more years left on contract

Mavs looking like they're going to sign Dangelo Russell and call it an offseason

It appears so someone in that range. I would also like to bring a minimum guy in if we could make a move. Still really thin at point guard. Exum would be a good stop gap…just can’t stay healthy

Can Brandon Williams run point? Or is he more of a SG in a PG body?
Not gonna lie. Once Kyrie got hurt last year, I completely tuned out.

Hard to know exactly why, but it feels like the Mavs preferred Russell. Their pecking order of PGs may be Paul, Russell, Ball ... others. I suspect they already know about Paul's preference of an LA team and if one has an interest.

I'd say he's serviceable as a PG. He's probably not the floor general-assist guy you want out of a primary PG, but he's a serviceable player in a support role. He's also a pretty efficient perimeter shooter.

That would be my order too with those three. Even if I like ball more and thinks he would be good as a tandem point guard with another player. You can’t run away from his injury history.
A healthy Ball would fit here like a glove. The health is the issue.
This probably means ty Jerome is leaving. He had a very nice season. I just would not pay big money for him. He was a guy I liked in the draft. He will probably be out of our range but I think I prefer others.

Chicago and Dallas are destined to make a trade. One team who never receives picks in trades vs one who always gives picks away.

We could have, but would we want to? I doubt Caleb gets it done (would have made the Grimes trade not so bad). Who else? You don't want to give up Max. Would you send out Naji? I would consider it. Ball is the better fit.

Given that Ball would be a trade, he does not exclude the other two. You trade for Ball and then sign tax MLE to another PG.

I'm ok with Ball going elsewhere. I had no interest in adding a player with no chance (literally zero) of being an every-game contributor.

Impossible now. Already sold. Look elsewhere.

I find myself working back around to the hope (it's just a hope, I don't think it's real) that Portland wants to flip Jrue Holiday, at this point.
A multi-player deal for Holiday, signing DLo, and then filling in the end of the roster with a couple of minimums they/we like would cap off an amazing off-season, imho.

You would not be able to have MLE if you swap for Jrue, no salary room left w/ both for even 14 players (cap-illegal).
FYI sure feels like they are headed to MLE signing, so options w/o MLE would not be under consideration.

You'd have to spend a future FRP for Jrue. Hell to the no.

Because their current trajectory only affords them enough room for one minimum signing, right? And, I guess there isn't a way for a Holiday trade to be a 2 for 1. Would have to include more outgoing guys?
Ugh.

So, if I take your point, FGump, that rules out use of the tpMLE along with any 3 for 1 deal we can think of, correct?

Davion Mitchell resigning for 2 years 24 million. I know he played pretty well in Miami but I didn’t know he as that level. Around a year ago I thought he was going down the Dennis smith road. Looks like he turned it around. Another former Kings first round point guard.
