Trades We Hope For
#21
I think you start with the teams that don't have a center.  Boston and Charlotte make the list after shipping out KP and Mark Williams and LA is obviously still looking.  I know that it is unlikely that we are sending out Gafford, but we don't really have that much to talk about right now other than whether we like DLo or not.

My deal would be Gafford, Martin and Hardy outgoing (and picks) for Derrick White.  I think Boston is going to do some more cost cutting.  If Kai Jones is a Mav, we probably have to do some kind of trade.  No need to spend much time sorting out the details, but this would be what I would "hope for".

I love that deal, but I think we would have to add assets to make it happen.

Edit: I must have glossed over your (and picks). I am leery of sending out a future first for a guy on the wrong side of 30 (no matter how much I like him).

Isn't that the rub.  Someone like White might be THE last piece needed for a championship in the next 3 years...might be.  But, robbing assets from the next iteration of the team after the old guys are gone seems shortsighted.  Won't we need those assets to restock around Flagg?

So, what level guy might make it worth the gamble?  Is it someone at White's level?  Or, does it HAVE to be someone younger who will still be around for the Flagg/Lively/Christie era?

Is AD/PJ/Flagg/White/Kyrie with Lively/Naji/Christe/Klay/PG bench good enough to be a contender?  Probably not this season with Kyrie injury and Flagg being a rookie, but I could definitely see the argument for the following year.  It would depend on health and Flagg development.  There is probably an argument not to do anything significant this year and see what we have with Flagg and other things before making the big push next offseason.  There is concern that if we manage to stay semi healthy in the frontcourt there will be a massive logjam and somebody is going to lose minutes and value (with Gafford being the most likely).
