Trade & FA 2025-26: Free Agency Starts 5pm CST/6pm EST
I wonder if Holiday (+cheap bodys if required) for Gafford's new contract + Martin (+Hardy if needed) would work somehow cap wise.

I don't think Holiday likes being on a non-contending team and younger players would make more sense for Portland.

Jrue/(Irving)
Klay/Naji/Christie
Flagg/PJ/Naji
AD/PJ
Lively/AD

would be a defensive juggernaut with lots of offense, but big age and injury concerns.
Still feels like AD is in the way of Flagg and PJ if he's not playing lots of minutes at the 5.

Brogdon-ACL Irving-Street Clothes is a Nightmare trio. But for the Mavs fans. OMG.

Scary stuff indeed!  If someone could guarantee me 65 games and 100% playoff availability for Brogdon, I'd be all in.

NEW:
Per sources, Celtics trying to move into the lottery. Illinois guard Kasparas Jakucionis said to be a target.

Plus: Jrue Holiday reportedly very unhappy being dealt to Trail Blazers. Another trade possible.

Jonathan Kuminga said he never had the chance to prove himself

“I feel like I’m at the point where that has to be my priority, to just be one of the guys a team relies on. Aiming to be an All-Star. Multiple times. Aiming to be great. … Wherever I’m going to be at, it don’t matter if it’s the Warriors or if it’s anywhere else, it’s something I want. I want to see what I could do. I know I got it. So I want to really see. I’ve never got that chance.”

I don't think that is possible.  I think Portland wanted Jrue.   I am sure he is dissapointed leaving Boston and may not be thrilled playing for a non contender.  I don't buy the report out there that he is upset.  That is a pretty solid team though.   It just sucks it is in the West.

More on this topic: Dallas is now regarded as a leading suitor for D'Angelo Russell, sources tell
@TheSteinLine
.

The Mavs can make a free agent run at Russell because Kyrie Irving's new deal has a lower Year 1 salary than his $43M player option.

Ya, I just read more and saw that the report he was pissed is BS.

I'm at a loss now.  Jrue's contract is awful, but besides that, it was a great fit.

I'd love it, but after giving up Simons and 2 2nds, I'd have to think their price is really high.  The trade seemed odd to me to begin with.  Scoot needs to be given a chance; he has improved and is 20 years old.  With Scoot, Sharpe, Avdija (HUGE FAN!), Grant, Camara, and Ayton...I don't get it.  Ayton is 26 and the rest are 24 and under [minus Grant].  36 wins last year with a lot of injuries.  If I'm Portland, I send out Holiday and Grant, get as many young prospects and picks as I can and go the Thunder route.

Just to make salaries work: Gafford, Martin, Hardy, and Omax work. Jrue is still in BOS on Fanspo. Dallas takes in $600k less than they send.  I don't think Portland even picks up the phone for that.

I'd find that a strange decision.  KAT is the issue with that team and more specifically his pairing with JB on the defensive end.

It may be that he's not interested in extending at the amount he's allowed to.  If he doesn't, he's UFA next summer and arguably the prize of the summer.

You think Brown would be more pissed, if he had to play with Kyrie again. Big Grin Big Grin

Utah could give them "an offer they can't refuse".
