Only Braun and Gordon has showed up today for Denver.
One City will be NBA champion for either first time or for first time in over half a century

I can agree on MPJ being given a unworthy extension. He's lost confidence, and has his share of nagging injuries as well as AG..But AG at this point is probably the 2nd most important player on Denver given Murray's struggles. And Malone is gone too, so there's that.

Turnovers vs OKC is writing your own epitaph. You can't have them, they'll embarrass you.

There will be a new NBA champion for the 7th consecutive year. The new CBA has all but killed the odds of a repeat champion since the GS Warriors.

Parity is officially a thing, for better or worse. Probably not all about the rules, cap, etc. Some of it is just because the league is in a transitional period from LeBron/Curry to whatever the next crew of top dogs ends up being.

Whoever can stay healthy is probably the biggest factor. Golden State's, Boston's, and to a lesser extent, Denver's hopes got sniped by injuries.
Kind of want Minny to win it all but I think that's the least likely outcome.

It's much worse of late for all-stars and how athlete's take care of themselves continues to improve compared to those other eras. A 70 game season should be considered among other things (no midseason tournament, no play-in tournament, best of five opening round, possibly shorter quarters). Officiating in the playoffs also changes which isn't helpful. OKC basically took the Legion of Boom CB strategy of "they can't throw a flag every play" with how they guarded Jokic. Props to Caruso though.

Thought this would be the outcome today. I find it unlikely anyone stops OKc this year. Although them being the favorite, I think I will root for anyone else besides OKc. I don’t even dislike them. Although there fans were a bit much last year.
I think I am rooting for the East to win this year. I like how Indy plays , think Rick is a great coach and they are the true underdog of the teams remaining. They have been playing great though. Jalen seriously probably my third favorite maverick ever. That is how much I love that dude. Never saw him at this level. Although I had trouble rooting for him these past three years. Even if I never blamed him for the reason he left. Since the Luka trade, it has buried some old wounds and made me realize how much Nico and Mark screwed up. Jalen is in a much better place now. The King of NY. So even though I dislike their fans and they have a terrible owner, I will be rooting for whoever comes out of the East. Good luck with that though. |
