Nico Harrison:

“Unfortunately I’m super stubborn, so someone telling me to do something doesn’t work too well for me.”

Report: Nico Harrison said he's not sure whether Kyrie Irving will opt in, but he’s confident he’ll be a Mav

Nico literally just said "I cannot think about a worst case scenario"

and that "we already have a championship caliber team."

I will say, watching Nico, this is the most animated he's ever been in a press conference. Watch the beginning statements by him.

He looks like he's almost pleading with the room about how good this team actually is. And then he got subsequently grilled for 20 minutes.

He's a meek mild mannered man. Never really making long statements. But he truly looks shook. I cannot wait to throw a steak on the grill when he gets ousted.

He bet the farm on injury prone players and now he's saying his plan would've worked if there were no injuries.

That makes absolutely no sense.

When asked "is Luka a championship caliber player?"

Nico replies: "Thats kind of an unfair question. Luka is no longer here"

Nico when asked "how do you repair the relationship with the fanbase going forward?"

He goes: " Well one, Dirk is the single most important figure to the franchise, so that's very important. But I think winning will repair the relationship with the fans and that's what we plan to do next year."

Mike Curtis replies and goes: "I know you've said that winning will repair it; have you ever thought about what if it doesn't?"

Nico: "I'm an optimistic person and I move by faith, not by fear"

He's 100% using the injuries as a shield for all blame. It was expected truthfully.

At some point though, that well runs dry fast. He keeps pointing to next year being THE year. If the team falls flat out the gate, I can imagine a quick change.

When Nico says “ fan base” he is almost saying fans are emotional. The thing Nico needs to understand is that almost everyone basketball related was shocked at what Nico got back because they all know how great Luka is despite his flaws.  These are detached observers who are not emotional or biased due to their fandoms

The thing is he wants credit for 2.5 qtrs against a non playoff team. Yet with Luka as the lead dog we won actual 7 game playoff series where once we went to the WCF and later to a Finals. It’s like Luka gets no credit for that grind when both the quality of completion and nerves and physicality are all raised significantly.    If GMs were just focused on one ultimate series then Giannis, Tatum and Jaylen should have been traded before they got a chance to win a title.

Just confirms to me that Kidd and Nico are on the same page. I don't think he ever enjoyed coaching Luka so he wasn't sad to see him leave. Especially knowing that they were getting AD in return

I'm not so sure Nico's job will even be in jeopardy. The Kyrie injury recovery may buy them another year of excuses. The new MBT is official now and the Dumont/Nico/Welts relationship might be here to stay, regardless of how much the fans hate it  Cry

This is all on ownership at this point. They've given complete control to Nico. That's what really makes this terrible more than anything. Nico won't last but inept ownership is here to stay.

Thanks for posting this. I was very interested to see it.

I don’t have any future vision on this though I am still grieving like most ar all of us. I guess I’m partially past the anger stage. Thanks again to this board. It helps to have good info and I don’t mind the anger and expression of doom many are experiencing.
