I wonder if we'll ever find out the truth.

The way these idiots are still talking confidently (even Rick Welts) I'm trying to think if they have a trade lined up for a Luka replacement this summer. (It's weird how quickly after Rick Welts got here that Luka was traded)

Nico: "My obligation is to the Dallas Mavericks, it's what's the best interest of the Dallas Mavericks, and that's the most important thing. Some of those decisions are going to be unpopular maybe to Dirk and maybe to the fans, but my obligation is to the Dallas Mavericks."

Aside from Jokic, Edwards, and maybe Giannis, there is no real “replacement” for Luka.

Not saying you think that. But that’s how big of dolts these dudes in the front office are.

[Cato] The CEO of the Mavs compared the Luka Trade to when the Golden State Warriors traded Monte Ellis: "The Golden State Warriors once traded Monte Ellis for Andrew Bogut.. Monte Ellis was beloved.. but eventually, it got better because they had a guard named Steph Curry"

full quote that made me wonder if they have something lined up

They have 37yo Kevin Durant at max, he didn't carried his team to play-in this year.
Defintely not a Luka replaced.

I felt strongly that Nico and Kidd must go. Throw Welts into that mix.

Welts came across as the biggest moron in the room. That is no easy task with Nico in there.

These guys are a big bag of nothing. There is no other Nico Harrison sitting there who is going to give them a young stud for anything this roster has, let alone a generational level player in his prime.

These guys if not fired will compound their mistake by going after name veterans like Durant.

They will ensure to burn down any remaining small areas untouched by the nuke they deployed.

I am questioning myself now for holding onto my fandom.  Yes this is my franchise and I like the players.  I just can’t stand this front office anymore. Today was the last straw.  It almost seems like they want to rub it in and alienate any of the remaining fans.

Welts said in his 47 years in his role, he's never seen a more passionate fanbase than Dallas. "We hear them. It's on us to win back their trust," he said. "This story is unfinished. We understand the pain."

"Understanding the fans' pain" = Nico is fired after the play-in. That is all.

Well I guess I have been asking for a press conference. Lol. Maybe that is why they haven’t done it. I haven’t read most of the quotes and I think audio would tell a better story but it looks like another pr disaster. Nico just can’t do that role. Welts should be much better. The Monte Ellis quote I saw is just weird.

To be honest there is really nothing they can say to make it better . Especially now. Nico can’t say what he really thinks about Luka. Especially how Luka looks now. It is a no win situation. But this conference should have happened months ago. Fans will be pissed and nothing they can say will change this. You just hope they can not stop stepping in their own manure though. I can see a situation where they have a press conference and the fans are oisssd but they at least come across competent and showing some empathy. Unfortunately they didn’t.

It just feels like Nico is toxic and will remain toxic. Maybe this was a trial balloon. The one thing they say is when we win things will be different. I am not sure that is the case.

No doubt seeing Cubans comment there is some game of thrones going on behind the scenes. Cuban is trying to lay the case that Nico needs to go.

It smacks of politics. Blowing smoke, making false statements, then doubling down on those false statements, or kinda/sorta true statements, such as "defense wins championships". "Who're you going to believe, me, or your lyin' eyes?" No one makes this trade. If you do, you have to be aware of NBA-value of the players involved. Nico did none of that. Like trying to convince others that only he knows the truth, that Mavs fans are living in the upside-down. IF a team makes the trade, you get the biggest haul in NBA history.

Any and all responsible for the trade must be fired immediately to have any hope of placating the fanbase and even that will be an uphill battle. For conspiracy theorists, the only thing that makes sense is there is a league-mandated make-good, and the Mavs are given the 1st pick in the draft.

The trade was so slanted, it looks like it was ordered by the powers-that-be in the NBA. A fair trade would've been to send all Laker assets to the Mavs, and then some.  That didn't happen. Sending ignoramuses' to try and justify or explain the unexplainable doesn't cut the mustard with even the casual fan, anywhere in the league.

“I do believe that once we win, the fans will come back,” he said. This from a man who later said, “Some of those decisions are going to be unpopular, maybe to Dirk [Nowitzki] and maybe to the fans, but my obligation is to the Dallas Mavericks.”

Dragging Dirk into the conversation seems unnecessary, but par for the course.

If defense wins titles why did they choose to rebuild with a 33 year old Kyrie as the main cog?  Plus he was bad in the Finals. Luka actually had a very good series.   Boston also won mainly due to their offense sprinkled with defense that was overall better than the Mavs.  Our centers who were our strengths in the previous series got exposed by Boston with their 5 out offense.  How can a NBA GM not be aware of any of this and just ramble cliches of defenses winning championships?

Plus he has a nice out now given that we many never see many games with a fully healthy Kyrie and AD out there. Something which btw he should have predicted given their injury history and ages.  He can always claim injuries didn’t help the team realize his grand vision. Unfortunately for him, no team or corporation in their right mind is going to hire him in a basketball capacity after this gig expires.  He will forever be remembered for the most ridiculous trade in basketball history and then another equally bad trade a week later.

Someone came up with the idea of Dallas sports legends purchasing Adelsons share. Assuming Aikman, Smith etc. come up short, I would want the city of Dallas to own part of the team. 1 million people x $1,000=$1,000,000,000. We can pay it in installments like billionaires do and the state of Texas will front us the money.
Can I change my name? thanks

Call me dumb but I would literally throw in 100k if it meant the city of Dallas could buy out the Adelsons.
