Game 76: Brooklyn Nets (24-51) vs. Dallas Mavericks (37-38)

Boston shot 62 threes tonight. That’s more like it.  Brooklyn is a horrible team but they shot 50 plus threes and kept it close enough to steal. The Mavs need to rebuild their team to play modern basketball. There’s not a path to contention with a roster built around a bunch of non shooting bigs.

There's no question the roster of the moment (which has only 11 players, one of whom is a 2-way) is very deficient and limited.

I would venture to say that the immediate addition of Kyrie, Exum, and B Williams would make it all look VERY different. But it's a rough situation right now, and they just gotta play through it for the time being.

This summer should add a good draftee, and I would wager there's a trade or 2 on the horizon as well to add more. But on top of that, they should have a much fuller set of players to work with, and that will help a lot.

That assumes they do some good GM-ing, so maybe it's too much to expect. I'm still hoping for a change in that area, to make good moves possible. Dennis Lindsey, please.

With our actual back court it's better to not take 60 3s  Big Grin

However you are right, in this NBA era i don't think you can win with the twin towers as Spurs or Pistons did but Harrison moves forced us to do it.

We will see Cleveland in PO... But they are younger and way more talented than us with Garland, Mitchell and Hunter.

Cleveland is a different case. Mobley is shooting 37% from three on three attempts per game. Allen is their only non-shooter

Yes, Lively hasn’t shown it, but I really hope his offensive game trends towards Mobley.  May be a dream though.

As you said, Allen is their only non shooter.  The rest of the team can shoot.  The guys off the bench are good shooters. Cleveland is in a funk now and I think Boston is the favorite in the east but when I have watched Clev their ball movement is great and they get really good open threes.

Nico referenced Clev after the trade. IMO the roster needs a lot of changes to compare to Cleveland.

They think Davis can be our Mobley... Good luck.

When did Omax teach AD his move? Falling down when shooting and leaving a 4 on 5 on the other side of court? Or maybe he thinks the team is use to Luka complaining and doesn’t think he needs to get back.

You need to come to the realization, prime Klay isn't going to show up every game. Those days are over.

Brooklyn is basically going to try their hardest to lose, so maybe we will see some inflated highlights by the Mavs tonight.

The Mavs are in a tough spot for sure with that backcourt.  You could win with a twin towers look if one of them is Evan Mobley and shoots 38% from 3 and can defend multiple positions. Even Kleber before he lost confidence could stretch the floor. It just seems like the Mavs made a trade with the expectation of a rule change to reign in the 3 point shot, a rule change I don’t see happening.
