It should definitely be for a much cheaper deal than if he wasn’t injured, because we lose one (counting this year it‘s two) of his few prime seasons left. And maybe all of them if he loses a step or two with him being in his mid thirties and coming back from a major injury - which wouldn’t be surprising at all.
There are definitely more steps left. The next big one would be to trade every young player, the 31 and the 32 swap for an aging star to truly nuke the future.

The good news is no team is going to miss a call this summer with the Mavs calling about trades. The bad news? I will leave that to you.
I am at the point of keeping most of the players for next year. Maybe trade one of Marshall, Martin, Klay, Max. The main issue with Kyrie hurt we are severaly lacking creators. Minus Kyrie, I am not sure if you can even get a clear view of Nico's vision. You will never get the most out of your bigs with our current guards. Keep your pick. Replace Exum and Dinwiddie with a similar level player who fits better and see what happens. If next year looks poor at the deadline, you need to explore blowing things up.

I said it after the Luka trade and even after Kyrie’s injury. Nico is going to give kyrie a 5 year and at minimum 200mil deal. All the while trading for KD.
Again, he does NOT care about anything past 2027. He will be in another state, enjoying a vacation.

Did Mavericks ex-guard Quentin Grimes ask to be traded out of Dallas?
Our guy @TheSteinLine on today’s show, explains the Mavs reasoning for wanting Caleb Martin and moving on from Grimes #MFFL

Stein pretty much shuts down the whole "Grimes asked out" idea.

Kyrie’s injury is very very severe on a knee with a significant chronic problem to begin with. He’s also long in the tooth. His best days are behind him. He’s a $15 - $20 million per year player going forward considering how many games he’ll miss and his diminished capacity. The Mavs need to move on.

100% agree.
But, they're not going to move on.

I would tend to agree with you, but this management and ownership have shown their hand, as far as being unpredictable. I think they'll do right by Kyrie to see if he and AD can lead them back to respectability, but it's no guarantee. All this comes as Hookah Doncic (sorry I heard someone call him that lol) is playing fantastic for the Lakers.

I would have rather this...
Start Grimes (Luka, Kyrie, Grimes, PJ, Gaff)
THJ role -> Klay
DJJ -> Naji
Luka, Exum, Din
Kyrie, Hardy
Grimes, Naji
PJ, (traded for Maxi replacement)
Gaff, DLive
That roster could have made another championship run, with a much better chance at winning it all than last season

I don't know if these are new comments by Cuban or if he did this a little while ago. I find Cuban's comments interesting. He is not totally trashing the organization, but he is making it known that it was irresponsible. What is his end game? Is he looking for an out for the organization (sell his stake). Is he continuing to pour a little gas to make Nico's seat too hot that Dumont needs to let him go? Or is he is just letting everyone know to not blame him for the move?

Gauging by the amount of scorn and criticism he’s taken for decades, I imagine he’s pretty glad to distance himself from unpopular decisions.
He’s like the backup quarterback now: everyone likes him, and he doesn’t have any responsibility.

Still far from a real team, with no creator to be found, but as last night showed, he'll be more than enough to bazooka the tank.

In all honesty, there isn't much difference in the picks. Your odds are pretty miniscule. I am ready for the season to be over though. I would like to see AD, but would be fine waiting. Seeing how AD and PJ work together would be something interesting to see. Also, with a big as well. I am not sure it will work how they think, but it is intriguing.
Question, could the Mavs buy out Exum and sign a guy like Williams now? Is that even possible?

No. There are no legal workarounds as of today the Mavs can do to get some cap space. They have the roster spot available right now to sign Williams, but just don’t have the money available.

The odds are very different - if we have the 9th worst record we have a 20.3% chance of a top 4 pick, so one out of 5 drafts we jump up. If we‘re at 12 instead it‘s a 6.2% chance or one in 16 drafts.

Man the Kyrie injury sucks so bad. We’d have some hope/entertainment to at least see what they look like with the three bigs coming back.

Agree.
I prefer those % over a Harrison pathetic attempt to save his face. But here we are.

So it is Kyrie's and Kidd's birthday today. Luka wished Kyrie a happy birthday. He must have forgotten it was Kidd's birthday as well.
