AROUND the NBA:
OMG. They get to the final game. Play 5 minutes of basketball and stop for 30 minutes of commercials and Kevin Hart handing out fishing poles. The fans who attended this travesty tonight should get their money back. The NBA as a league is full on in the shitter.

I have never seen a more perfect representation of how out of touch and comical the league has become than this entire All-Star fiasco.

It's hilariously bad. Whoever worked on this needs to be fired. What were they thinking?

I never thought Kevin Hart was particularly funny. He seems to try too hard at it.

At least the dunk contest was pretty good as long as Mac McClung was still in it. He has great creativity. Stephon Castle was impressive as well.

I enjoyed Kyrie playing hard and well especially him versus Wemby. They both looked awesome on that play. The kid making $100k versus Dame was fun.

I really want to find those who think Hart is funny. Almost every comment about him is same as you, at best that he was funny 15 years ago.

My wife thinks he's hilarious.  To each their own I guess.

The all star game is not my thing. It used to be, but I think I have aged out of it. I did turn it on at the start of the final. There was some entertaining play. Not playing super hard, but it was entertaining and a little compettive. The whole Kevin Hart/TNT thing after coming back from a timeout in a 11-1 game was just terrible though. That deserves the mockery that it is getting. Also, having Kevin Hart rip the all stars on an open mic is an interesting decision.

Bad look with Lebron and Anthony Edwards bowing out too. Health is key, but Lebron probably knew he wasn't going to play when he arrived. Edwards probably had too much fun on one of the nights. For Lebron, they should have had a replacement. For Edwards, he should know that as one of the faces of the league he needs to go a little less hard in the evenings.

There was no All-Star game yesterday.

It was a bunch of unfunny skits sandwiched between long ad breaks with MAYBE some basketball sprinkled in.

Like watching a movie on TNT. The deeper you get into it, the more determined you are to finish and the ads become longer and more frequent because they figure you are hooked until the end.

I don't watch anything except NBA games on TNT anymore.

In my world, DVR (to record, then fast-forward through all the ads and crap) is a mandatory device for watching. I even watch live games that way, by setting the recorder to run and then starting to watch the game when it's about 30 minutes old, more or less, so I can FF each time there's a stoppage. There's way too much junk to wade through.

With the All-Star Game, it's devolved so badly that I don't even bother. It's just not worth it imo.

Hulu+Live TV has a DVR function and will record games on national broadcast. Let's you FF through commercials, TOs and halftime mumbo jumbo.

NBATV/MavsTV subscription replays non-national games w/o commercials and halftime. It may even skip TOs, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Downside is opposing broadcasters for away games. Usually stays on for post-game presser, if you are into that.

[Charania] Brooklyn Nets forward Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo season-ending foot surgery, sources tell ESPN. Bogdanovic last played on April 28, 2024 for the Knicks before having an initial surgery on his left foot.

I was wondering about him. I have always thought he was a good player and thought he could be a sneaky solid buyout guy. Not any longer.

Seems like the big max extension is inevitable. So what’s left to negotiate, that would justify paying an agent 4% of his contract

True.

And yet there are so many loop holes an untrained person in contract law could miss that opens them up to get bit in the butt.

Maybe SGA is confident in his abilities and confident that OKC won’t f him over, but negotiating a 300+ mil contract without representation just seems like an unneeded risk.

This kind of thing always reminds me of a person summoned to court who is eager to defend himself without a lawyer.

I’ll bet he can find a couple of lawyers to look over his contract and make sure it’s good for less than $12 million.

I do the exact same thing. I get tired of watching the same commercials 3-5 times a game.  A close game doesn't get interesting until there's about 5 minutes to go..

He played well for Detroit before he got injured, but they held on to him too long. And his time with the Knicks, Thibs barely played him. He might be at the end of his rope.
