TRADE: Caleb Martin + 2030 2nd to Dallas | Grimes + PHI 2nd heads to 76ers

They traded Luka for a 32yr old.  If they wanted to tank, they would've traded him for a million picks.

It’s not official yet according to the NBA website.

I think the framework is finalized. Both teams are keeping it open just in case something pops up in the final minutes of the TDL

Unless it is tied to another trade/move or another move is happening, I would push back.  Maybe they really like Martin but this team isn't going anywhere this year.  Why tie yourself to a guy entering 4 years on a contract.   I know, it is probably not a big deal but it just feels kind of Bleh.

The Mavs are optimistic that F Caleb Martin will return from his hip injury in 2-3 weeks, sources said.

As @TheSteinLine reported, the terms of the trade with the Sixers were amended after Martin’s physical to add a 2030 second-round pick to Dallas’ return for Quentin Grimes and a 2025 second.

2-3 weeks. Sure, great. Not like we need bodies. Well worth a productive healthy player and a high second round pick.

2-3 weeks and they could be out of the race.

optimistic for 2-3 weeks. We all know our training staff underpromises and overperforms. We will see him in November

The Mavericks had the option to void the Caleb Martin trade, sources tell @TheSteinLine, but believe Martin can recover in a matter of weeks and went ahead with the deal with Philadelphia agreed to put in the future second-round pick.

We gave up the better player, added a valuable high second round pick and took on bad money to trade for a damaged goods JAG, limiting current flexibility and possibly longer term flexibility too. Undid Morley’s mistake for him. Spectacular work Nico.

I think his 9M and Hardy’s 6M will be part of a KD trade this summer.

Martin 9
Hardy 6
Gafford 14
OMax 3
Naji 9
Klay 16

That's 57 mil right there.

Makes them worse, enables them to tank naturally, making the Flagg-for-Luka deal with Silver look more legit.

If he just haaaaaad to have Martin, why didn't he insist on us keeping their second instead? Boggles the mind.

I think Nico vision has KD in and Martin as a key piece. KD will most likely be available in the summer, after Phoenix fails miserably again this season. Gafford, PJ and Klay should not be looking to buy houses in Dallas, as most (if not all) of them will likely not be in Dallas next season.

Just wait till the Mavs win the lottery this summer and instead of drafting Cooper Flagg, he trades the pick away for Lebron.
