Luka Dealt to Lakers: Nico Harrison is a Basketball Terrorist
Not getting the Lakers 2031 pick is a travesty too ugh

I leave you with this parting gift:

If you factor in the resulting virtually guaranteed Mavs lottery vs. bottom 10 pick swaps with OKC, Houston and San Antonio from 2028 to 2030 and the 2nd round pick to Utah, you can make a good case that the Mavs actually handed out more picks than they got back for Luka Fucking Doncic.

I hope the other players find a way out asap, especially Lively and Hardy.

With that I´ll log off now and forever.

I think I might just hate watch the Mavs tumble down the standings and let them lose the lottery. Then I can finally be at peace.

Meanwhile I can’t wait to watch Luka thrive with the Lakers

So much time and energy spent watching, talking and thinking of this team and poof it is over.

Even worse, they feel like a middling aging team. When AD and Kyrie are no longer elite players you have San Antonio and OKC having pick swaps and the rest of their picks in this range are gone. Just a really rough spot.

You will be missed.

Mavs fan since many iterations of this board.  I am out till ownership changes.

We went through ups and downs together, culminating in that one glorious title that brought tears to many of us here who followed Dirk from the start

I never liked Luka’s style of play or his antics, but he was a generational offensive talent Maybe the team had to cut ties with him one day. Not like this. Not for so little. Even other GMs are coming out and wondering what went down.

I didn’t sleep much last night and have been spamming these boards. It’s just grief.  I will continue to lurk once in a while.

The oroblem I have with this is that I can’t even watch the Dirk 2011 title the same way anymore. It’s almost as if the franchise just did something shady and ran off to another city in the night.

Thanks to all over the years who have made this place what it is. Many gone now or not posting anymore  Dearest Flame, Adyer,  Pepper, JayInFW. So many others here who amaze me with their deep basketball and cap knowledge.  I have learned so much. Don’t want to name names in case I accidentally omit someone.

Thank You all.

That's truly the reasons I keep coming back here since.

It was the only space where I could truly share my fanhood. While I am still thinking about letting it be or changig my focus to another team, it helps to have same good people here that struggele just as I do. In good times and bad...

I said on the show just now that this trade is SO unfair to AD because Mavs fans may never fully embrace him because of how it happened.

AD and Kyrie are elite #2 guys.   They may still be for the next few years, maybe.  The issue is you need a superstar.  Without it you are in no mans land.

2025-2027 will likely just be pure apathy

2027-2030 will be 90s level depression minus the potential of drafting a game changer because those three picks will instead be made by the three closest geographical rivals who all have young star studded teams.

Then, following the 2030-31 season the franchise will miraculously win the lottery in the same year the most can’t miss prospect in NBA history is draft eligible.  Only bad news is that the summer of 2030 is when the move to Las Vegas is announced.

So supposedly Nico said the Lakers were the only team he talked to and Kidd didn't know about the negotiations. Sounds like Nico is doing a Kamikazee mission or was compromised.

I hate Nico and Kidd so much after that press conference. This will not pass. They are going to get Boo'd so bad at home.

Press conference notes:

New guys fit the culture we’re trying to create here. Reporter asked are you implying Luka didn’t fit the culture? Nico says I won’t bad mouth a player leaving here.

Defense wins championships. AD and Christie great defenders.

Unique things about Luka’s contract we had to pay attention to. We’d be on the clock if he didn’t sign the super max . No verbal from Luka’s camp he wouldn’t sign the super max. (This is confusing)

I think Nico is wrong. Franchise altering wrong.

Although nothing he says to the media is going to tell you why they traded Luka. Flat out, he doesn't think Luka's body or commitment will hold up over time. I think he is wrong. Even if I have some doubts. That is the gamble you take imo. Finding another one is almost an impossible task.

They didn't say it, but it all points to the same thing: Harrison, at least, and possibly both Harrison AND Kidd, flatly don't believe Luka is a winner. Whether they're right or wrong remains to be seen, but what I can confidently express my feelings about now is that the execution of this pivot...the lack of reward for making a move like this...the idea that the franchise is just going to continue on as before, caring about "winning now"...the utter lack of ceremony, humility, etc, despite saying "we understand the magnitude of this" a few times...it all smacks of either shocking hubris, incompetence, or both.

Again, this is coming from someone who doesn't need much arm twisting to believe that they've decided they can't win with a team built around Luka. I think this, in a way, vindicates some of us who've been critical of his lack of professionalism in the past, because imagine how sick of him they must be to do this, but...the return they got? Criminal.

The Ringer player rankings.  Luka 4, AD 9

Trade rankings:  Luka 4, AD 11

A lot of room from those though.  Also, when healthy, Luka is higher than # 4 imo.

Dallas has 4 in the top 100.  The issue is 3 of 4 are PF/Center positions.

How do you not consult ANYONE about trading the best player on this team and top 2 player all time in this franchise.

And how does an owner approve this trade?

Only pointing this out because I'm seeing it brought up in the media... This wasn't money-related, or a concern about giving Luka the super-max (when he is one of the Top 5 players in the league).

What do they think AD is going to get on his next contract extension? And does the media think everyone is dumb enough to swallow this nonsense? Lol
