AROUND the NBA:
well at least we are not the Sixers. 2-10 for the year. Embid has played like two games but he looks like he is a month from reaching Luka shape level.

Pacers have also really struggled to start this year. They may need to play the Mavs more.

Knicks at .500 and haven't been ultra impressive in most games.

Rockets are at 9-4 and may be more of a threat for a top 6 seed. We will see though.

Lakers too off to a good start. I still think an injury slows them down. They look more competent this year so far.

Denver with a terrible loss to a depleted Pelicans team

GS keeps winning and a nice overtime thriller win by Minnesota over the Kings. There are no off nights in the west. There are going to be a few teams look back at the end of the year and be vastly disappointed how their season ended.

Next game against Spurs will be HUGE. Seems unlikely we´ll win at OKC in our current state, so a loss tonight and we are looking at a likely 5-9 start with at least two games behind a PLAY-IN spot. That´s a pretty big early hole to dig out of.

Saturday news drop.
Warner Bros. Discovery settles legal fight with NBA. Details on what Warner got as well as WBD - ESPN deals involving Inside the NBA and Big 12 college football and basketball. https://wsj.com/business/media/nba-warne...?st=HchVGu via

Inside the NBA will be licensed to ABC/ESPN as part of this settlement agreement.

It doesn't seem totally clear if that means the entire Inside the NBA crew will move or not. More to come there, I assume.

Lots of other great details in the article too. Major Saturday news drop!
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

DeAaron Fox has scored at least 109 pts the last two games. Only Kobe in 2007 and Wilt (15 times) have scored more over a two game span. He had a franchise record 60 vs Minnesota in a loss, and added 49 vs Utah in a win.

My understanding isTNT still owns "inside the NBA" and the crew are   employee there. ESPN is just a platform that is buyong some of the episodes or all. But they stay where they are.

Look at it like NBA games, the NBA is the owner but ESPN broadcast it. They are treating the show like the games.

Pistons are 5th in the East. Not sure they understand how tanking works. Portland´s also been surprisingly competent. I legitimately believe at 100% effort every single West team makes the play-in in the East, even Utah.

Cavs are 15-0 headed to Boston tomorrow. Mitchell didn't even play vs Charlotte.

Utah?  I doubt it unless they replace the Wizards. Detroit is playing well actually.  They've been in a lot of close games.

It's a licensing play, with TNT's entity "Inside the NBA" (including its sets, cast, crew, and more) being licensed (or rented out for rebranding) to another network, for a fee. The cast will still be under contract to TNT, who is then selling the "live shows" to another network to fill their air time. It should look very much the same, be done in TNT studios, etc, but on another network (without the TNT logo of course).

Works for me. As long as they bring back the band, I'm good, but I just found this nugget. Shaq may not be back.

I’m curious what happens to NBA TV and NBA League Pass. I sure like the new agreement so far.

Rockets, Warriors and Kings all lose last night. Good if you are a mavs fan.

Looking back over the first few weeks, the Mavs team is just a little off plus several tough losses. The Utah loss stinks though. If we win that, we would be two games over .500 going for 4 in a row tonight. Oh well.

Should rest Luka tonight. Give him almost a full week off to recover and train for Denver. Beat the Pelicans and have a few nice days off.

Good on PG13. That´s what you expect your $202M veteran star to do. Whoopsie.

If they were in the West, they´d already be toast. No digging out of 2-11 hole here.

This Boston/Cleveland game is pure fire. Best game I've seen so far this year.

It was outstanding.  IMO the Tatum check against Spider was a flagrant.  Of course they're not going to call it on Tatum.

C's have made 287 3's so far this season.
The most over a 15-game span in history.

McCain and Knecht having nice starts. McCain on a bad team so far and Knecht on a good one so far. I am not surprised with McCain. I thought he was going to be good. I didn't have much of an opinion on Knecht. He is older but thought to be pro ready. So far that appears to be true. I took a look at the draft before them and was thinking if anyone would want a re-do. Still really early, so I am not sure many would say yet at this time.

I am rooting for Josh Green. I think he is a good dude and I really think there is a good player in there. Changing teams and expecting immediate results is tough. He has had two solid scoring games the last few. Hopefully that is sustainable.

My issue with him is he is starting and playing around 24 minutes a game. He is shooting 53% from three but shooting less than 3 per game. He is only averaging 6 points per game. Scoring is not his most important skill, but he needs to find ways to get the ball in the basket more. It always frustrated me when he would shoot 40% from three but only take "wide open" attempts.
