AROUND the NBA:

I don't think Kuminga was the hold up in that deal. It was Podz. And I don't think the Warriors are keen on trading their 3rd guard, even if it is for Markkannen.

Mostly because if they were, they had the chance to all summer. Now Lauri can't be traded until next offseason where Kuminga will be a RFA.

Looks like Hayward nailed his assessment of Gobert to a T.

Just saw a bit of the OKC game last night, but Chet looks really good. Doesn't look bigger but looks stronger taking contact. He hasn't started the season hot from three (was 3-3 last night) but he looks really good with the ball in his hands. No surprise but OKC is going to be a problem.

Just don't know what the plan is for SA. They are still missing Vassel, but I just didn't get their offseason. Now they are still positioned well for the future. Maybe they plan to bottom out and get a top pick and then go in overdrive. Where have we seen that before? Wemby deserves a better team around him though.

Josh Green started and got 9 points last night. Also starting is Seth Curry. Brandon Miller is out so I would guess he would replace Seth. Former OKC player Trae Mann has gotten off to a hot start this year. They also have a Martin brother and a lottery pick for a wing. So Green will need to play well to earn minutes. It should be a good opportunity for him to find a footing.

Are the Pelicans one of the weirdest teams in the league. Unhappy Ingram. Zion shot 5-20 last night. Daniel Theis started at center. Daniel Theis......First round pick Missi is the backup and he only played 12 minutes to Theis 5. What are they doing at center?

Grizzles started out the year with more injuries and dropped a game to the tanking Nets.

Wemby had a terrible game. Damn, Chet looks great and will only look better at PF when Hartenstein returns.

Disagree on Chet at PF.  I think pushing him to PF will take away some of his value.

Are you saying Chet and Hartenstein won't play together or that Hartenstein will play PF?

I think the thinking is if they play a team with a good center, they will likely play together.   I agree, I think he may morph into a PF type who can also finish games at center.  He will need to shoot better.  He is still so young though.

Hartenstein is really going to give them a different look that they didn't have last year. Either playing when Chet sits, but also playing with Chet.

Ouch. Take a look at the three picks after the Lakers picked him

I think they will stagger them as much as they can as Chet is a better center than PF.  They will still be on the court together (at the least starting and finishing games) where Chet will be at PF, but I don’t think that is his ideal position. Having a guy like Chet at center causes all kinds of matchup problems for the other team, especially in the playoffs.

I say pick him up. Big Grin

The Lakers have waived/dumped Randle, Ball, Russell, Zubac, Mo Wagner, Bonga...though none of them shot 22% for their career.

Memphis torched the Bucks tonight, 122-99 with key players out with injury. Giannis had 37. Ja was spectacular with a triple-double. Teams are on a Giannis watch as they are 1-4 now and play 5-0 Cleveland next. Dame shot 1-12, 0-6 from 3 for 4 points. Doc on thin ice as well.

That's pretty crazy they are already giving up on him in only his 2nd year. Especially given how important cheap contracts are for a cap-strapped Lakers team.

Just In: Orlando Magic superstar Paolo Banchero has been diagnosed with a torn right oblique and is sidelined indefinitely, sources tell ESPN. He will be re-evaluated in four-to-six weeks and return to play will be based on how he responds to treatment.

Nice dunk! It's gonna be a candidate for dunk of the year, lol.

That list is scary, especially since we all know it's only a matter of time before Zion is on it, too.

Phx and Golden are both 5-1 with some nice wins. Good starts for both teams who had rough years last year. Could either be this years Minny?

Definitely PHX.  Tyrus Jones is one of the biggest acquisitions in the offseason, precisely what they were missing.  Their Big3 plus Nurk and Jones is pretty stout.

It seems you're speaking theoretically and not addressing that Hartenstein will return AND WILL START.  Think OKC signed him to $86mill to play 15 mins of backup?

96 minutes of PF and C in a game.  When healthy you'll see Harenstein and Chet get at least 60 of those minutes.
