Trade & FA 2024-25:

I think the offense will stay the same...I doubt they can ever fully overhaul it with Luka. Trading for Grimes (+ previous interest in Shamet) and now Klay means they just want reliable shooters. Grimes and Naji will be the traditional 3 and D role while Klay will be the do-it-all shooter that THJ was supposed to be. He will get plenty of the same shots that THJ got...except now they are banking on him being an all-time great shooter instead of the streaky THJ

Reading Shams below, I get the impression that Klay will sign for the MLE unless the Warriors accept a 2nd for the S&T. The Green deal by Dallas just ensured they could go either direction.

By Shams Charania, Anthony Slater and Lukas Weese

Klay Thompson intends to join the Dallas Mavericks, league sources said Monday, a move that would end his 13-year run as a core member of the Golden State Warriors dynasty.

A deal has not been finalized, but the easiest path for Thompson to join Dallas would be via a sign-and-trade. The Warriors haven’t agreed to a Thompson sign-and-trade at this point, team sources said. It could still happen, but more negotiation and finalization would be needed. The Mavericks could sign him without the Warriors’ help, but Thompson would need to sign for less money.

Basically just replace THJ with Klay. The difference is Klay will shoot the ball with more efficiency and won't be a liability on defense. This is a huge upgrade

Apparently, the third year CAN'T be an option. That's no big thing, because it's a player option, anyway, so they might as well just take the option away because he was 100% going to exercise it, but...

...is there a chance Dallas doesn't understand what's legal and what's not?

Value wise, I'm happy with the three year deal.

No I don't think our GM doesn't understand the basic rules of a SnT, especially considering the cap wizardry they've navigated the last 15 months.

Yeah. What Nico did in getting Klay is make it so that Dallas can play fast but don't have to. Klay's favorite shot is to wrap around a pin down at the top of the 3 point line. That combined with a sort of spain P&R that they run will fully open up the court now in a way that they couldn't do with DJJ on the court. They will have no problem running half court sets. And now you'll also have 5 guys on the court that the defense can't sleep on.
Find me at Lakersball.com. I'm done with the Nico and the Mavs.

Really Klay is replacing DJJ. That is the role he is taking. We replaced Green with Grimes and THJ with Marshall.

[Wojnarowski] Thompson and Lawrence met with Mavericks GM Nico Harrison and VP Michael Finley at the Bottle Inn in Hermosa Beach, Calif., on Sunday night to dig into the details of a Thompson-Mavericks partnership, sources said.

twitter culture is so weird. did the Bottle Inn pay Woj to mention their name?

So if the Warriors don´t play ball, Klay would still sign for the MLE and we keep both picks. Angel

Would we also not be hard-capped at the 1st apron, since it´s not a S&T anymore?

So what can we get for Kleber+Powell + 7.5M + picks. Tongue

Essentially it'll be the same offense but with reliable shooters. Naji had an incredible corner three % and Klay Thompson is KlayThomspon. The 4 out with our 5 at the high post was already effective with Luka and Kai's playmaking ability but now with effective and reliable shooters.

I think we are still hard capped because the Marshall signing.

If the Klay MLE would happen (I don't think it will), Mavs would have to reach a SnT deal with NO for Naji

Just trying to prove how plugged in he is and that the information must be 100% reliable since his insider even named the restaurant I suppose.

The Warriors are attempting to trade for Lauri Markkanen, per @wojespn.

Golden State is pivoting from Paul George to pushing their all-in chips in for Markkanen.

The Jazz are holding an extremely high price for Markkanen.

And Lively will probably get a green light to start shooting 44% from 3 this next season. We will be looking to out score Boston
In next years finals.

Klay doesn't have to be in the corner to shoot. This is growth in one area that hurt us against Boston.
Not very astute ^^^^

Kyrie the closer.

Klay Thompson had face-to-face meetings with both the Lakers and Mavericks in L.A. on Sunday night, league sources say.

In addition Dallas had Klay's former
@USABasketball
teammate Kyrie Irving to counter recruiting from LeBron James.

I think the offense will evolve a bit. No way you get Klay and ask him to do what DJJ did on offense.

Bobby Marks says that we aren't hard capped since we sent out Josh Green. Whatever that's worth.
