I have no interest in Grimes if the cost is our first round pick. Nice player, but we don't have many picks left. We can't just hand them out for quality role players.

Pessimism doesn’t make you smart, just pessimistic.

I think O-Max fills the PF spot, instead of Morris... and the Mavs FO should buy an early 2nd round pick to draft Nikola Djurisic. O-Max is a defensive player, so take another flyer on a young skilled forward who might be able to contribute in the future, even if only as backup to Luka. Then the Mavs FO should try to swap Dwight for Goga Bitadze. Goga is a big body Center who can be used to slow down Jokic, Embiid types... whereas Dwight is chopped liver. TBH, I think the Denver Nuggets should pick up Goga themselves, to finally get a decent backup at Center. So maybe the Mavs FO could send out Maxi and Dwight for Isaiah Stewart, since Beef Stew can play both the 4 and 5. For the PG VetMin*, maybe Aaron Holiday? He did decent for the Rockets in 2023-24.

If he's healthy and keeps developing, he could provide the defense that Josh Green does or is supposed to, and the shooting that THJ does or is supposed to... but in one player, not two.

Wow Knicks get bridges for a boatload of draft picks. Crazy

The Nova Knicks. I wonder if this has any impact on OH. If they can keep him and Hartenstein they are a cool tender next year

We're all interested in Grimes, but I don't think most of us are on board with sending a #1 pick to get him. We only need to send our #1 out for a starter imo, not for a role player that had a down year last season.

Damn the Knicks are going to be tough next season. Impressive move.

Two things...this was always going to be the endgame with Bridges. At least they got ahead of it. All the talk is they wanted to pair another star with Bridges seemed like a false hope. One, Bridges is very good but not a star. two, trading for that top star is always almost an impossible task. Now they can start looking ahead and not hoping for a miracle.
Really interested where DFS and Bojan wind up now. I would imagine the Houston Rockets are very happy with this news. They have picks and pick swaps moving forward. That will be tough to swallow but those picks were probably going to be good for Brooklyn anyway. It may really hurt now.

The question is do they let OG Anunoby walk? He opted out.

Too many moving parts, but I suspect they paid a slight premium to Houston to regain control of their draft. So, where does OG end up now. Still NY? Philly? Elsewhere?

You are basically getting DJJ + Grimes for that pick. For a team that is looking for more shooting without giving up defense and wanting to stay young, it’s hard to find a better fit than Grimes. If he rebounds to what he was in second year (which I think likely) he will be a significant upgrade from Green, and honestly potentially better than DJJ. This move would feel very similar to me as the TDL moves, with hopefully similar results |
