Paul George on what he’s looking for in free agency and his future:
“For sure contributing to winning basketball. I mean at this point… It’s not even about… Like people are saying, ‘chasing a championship.’ Like, it’s not that. But it’s playing the right style of basketball is what I’m chasing.”
Ergo, I'm fine with staying with the Clippers, just pay me my money.

Paul George says losing Robert Covington and Nicolas Batum really hurt the Clippers:
“We started the year off hot. Everybody was playing well, there was the energy there. It was kinda like the first time of us all being healthy with Russ now. It was the emergence of what it’s like being with Russ now with myself healthy, Kawhi healthy, and Russ full-time here. It was kind of like a fresh start… Then we traded to get James, and it’s not James’ fault of why we struggled, but the lost part of that was we lost RoCo, we lost Nico… Now you grab James, who is super talented offensively, now myself, Kawhi, we become the dirty guys…”

The Magic are now co-favorites with the Warriors to sign Klay Thompson, per @DKSportsbook:
Orlando = +130
Golden State = +130
Vegas is buying the buzz around Thompson potentially leaving for Orlando.

See, this, to me, makes it seem like he DOESN'T want to go back to the Clippers. Combined with the earlier nugget you posted, what I'm hearing is "I want to go someplace where I can touch the ball."

Yes a THJ stretch waive is a better option than others
Also Detroit has Shake Milton at $5 million and Troy Brown at $4 million. Both expiring. I have no clue if either is wanted in Detroit, but either contract could be used in a THJ dump to offset salaries. And then we just waive them
I.e. THJ and 2025 SRP for Brown
We would still open up enough for DJJ full MLE even though we lose the BAE

We don't need trade salary match with Detroit as they will have ton of cap space.

I'm not even stating we need to shoot for a starter. I'm saying we need to upgrade the rotation using those players mentioned (and perhaps Hardy) to create a predictable rotation piece such as we had with Hardaway early in the season.
That's really nothing that hasn't been said already.
Lively was great coming off the bench and he is 20. Green was a decent rotational player and he is 23. Hardy showed some signs and he is 21. There is reason to hope Omax gets there and he is 21. Hard to get much younger.
The Timmy/Hardy/Exum group underperformed in the playoffs. With Timmy likely gone, Hardy may get a lot more opportunity to show he can play that role. If it doesn't look like he or Exum are going to be significant improvement from this season, then we can always make a move at the TDL.

I don't think they can trade those guys (other than S&T). The are already UFA.

I´m Detroit, I do the Bruce Brown contract with Killian Hayes. 1+1 team option to reach the salary cap floor. Unlikely, but not impossible he still comes good. If not I always have an expiring for a trade matching salary, for example the Bulls with Lavine or the Pelicans with Ingram. That´s how I´d play it. I´d also at least call the Thunder about Stewart for Giddey + X.

But that place wouldn’t be the Mavs then, he wouldn’t get more touches next to Doncic and Irving, would he?
He would have to make clear that he‘s leaving either to a cap space team or in a sign and trade to us. Then we‘d be in business because some assets are better than none. Reality is he‘ll sign the best possible contract with the Clippers and stay there.

Milton just expired at the end of this season, I don't know if he is UFA or RFA.
Brown has one more year at $4M, but it's a TO so they would have to pick up the option first. They have plenty of room to absorb THJ without returning anything, if DAL can entice them to use their space to help us out.

No, I hadn't even considered him at the Mavs, and think it's a total non-starter from both the player and team POV. My guess is Philly.

Two players I've always coveted for the Mavs. One or both at vet min would be fantastic.

He's an end of bench guy now, and that's fine because he's paid like one.
We were discussing whether or not our rotation players were "adequate" during the playoff times. The discussion went sideways.

Throwing a pie in the sky name out there if we're willing to throw 2 draft picks into the mix is Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray.
Keeps with the youth movement and fills a bunch of holes. Versatile forward that can hit 3s at a great rate. Allows you to play some sort of 5 out with PJ at the 5.
Cam Johnson also on my radar.

Cam Johnson also on my radar. Cam's $23.6m salary makes a deal tough. He'd be a great fit though. Murray seems off limits based on their refusal to include him in an OG trade.

Cam would be ideal at that price in the new NBA economics except he just doesn’t play enough games. You’d have to use THJ’s contract as part of the salary match though so seems like you’d lose DJJ. If the Mavs really believe in OMax, then maybe they just dump THJ, resign DJJ, and call it an off-season. Seems like the smart play, but standing pat doesn’t feel right for some reason.

Shake Milton ended the season on the Knicks after Detroit released him. And Troy Brown was waived.
