That is true.

But, with the new CBA, the player who wants to play on an elite team will have to offer some financial cooperation and realization that payroll is now finite. Unless Kyrie is really a 50M player (and no metric would say he is) he can't get a contract like that, even though that's where his "max" salary lies. "Every good player gets a max" no longer will work in building a very good team.

I 100% agree. I just don't have confidence in the Mavs to resign him at a reasonable rate. I really hope I'm wrong though.

Exactly. History has shown us that the Mavs will be signing Kyrie to his max deal. Anyone expecting anything less is foolish imo.

They WILL be bidding against themselves, only because if they don't and Kyrie walks, this team is in a worse position than just having Kyrie overpaid.

Kidd really seems to want traditional center(s). So unless they take Lively...there's gotta be some wheeling and dealing.

I see Martin's stats look decent, but I've never watched the guy play. Is he really worth dropping 10 spots? That seems like we are getting screwed, but I'll see what others think on him as a player.

KMJ is horrible on defense. Not sure why anyone would say our interest is in him unless it’s Hou’s FO or fans.

His agent. Wants him to get more playing time, have a more featured role, get a bigger contract next time.

$2m salary this year, but an UFA after that.

Yeah I don't see the Mavs angle here unless it's for Eason+KJ+Sengun+20 for 10+Bertans.

HOU role players aren't anything special at all outside of Sengun. Moving up 10 spots for a hotly contested lotto pick should cost a lot.
