Trade & FA 2023-24: PHX Wants Lebron+Bronny| Hawks to Shop Hunter
Looking at CLE, you have a fitting parts core of...

OffRtg, DefRtg
Garland - 116.9, 108.8
Mitchell - 116.3, 104.4
Mobley - 115.5, 110.4

IMO, I'd add a stretch big and a defensive wing. IMO, Wood is a perfect fit. Then you get a DFS type player either in the draft or from a third team.

Garland, Rubio
Mitchell, Green
DFS-type, Osman
Wood, Wade
Mobley, Lopez

Mark my words.  Allen is going to be traded.
They just might, but so far the word out of Cle is they want to run it back. You can say all you want (and I have said just what you’re saying in the past) about what they should do, but the reason people are skeptical is because Allen is not in rumors (after the initial opinion pieces reported when they exited the playoffs). Anything can change, cause if you told me Portland was gonna keep trying to put a team around Dame at the TDL, I’d have said you’re nuts.

If rumors came true, John Collins would have been dealt years ago.  I don't put a whole lot of stock in that.  Their frontcourt is incredible individually, but is not a great fit as a combo.  I posted during the second round that every team left had a stretch big.  I mean they can be idiotic like MIN, but Mobley isn't going to develop an outside shot any time soon.  While Allen is very affordable given the player he is, that asset and the $20m price tag should be traded for better fitting part(s).  Mobley to C and they need a stretch big and a wing.  But you're right.  They may decide to continue with a makeup that was prevalent pre-Dirk.

Dear ORL, would you like the cheaper player in THJ instead?

THJ+10 for 6+Gary Harris?

Hello, Orl speaking, we need to be at the minimum and prefer younger players.

Hey ORL. Why are you trying to target GTJr with a contract that will be at least 4/80   Big Grin

Here is a slightly used THJ. Similar shooter AND on a discount. They even have Jr in their name! Did ya know that Timmy loves Orlando?

20M works for us, we need someone making money on this young team. Speaking of youth, how old is THJ again?

Hi Mavs. Yeah, we are not trading down from #6 for THJ if we can just sign younger GTj, even if for a bit more money. He fits nicely to our core and will be controlled for four years. He is just 24, while THJ at 31 is already looking at retirement homes.

But, we noticed your bloated payroll and we could help you with that for a right compensation. We can take THJ in our cap space in July and take that last SRP of yours, so that you can continue with your wonderful tradition of throwing SRP into every trade. This will give you more flexibility going forward.

James Harden is torn between PHI and HOU this offseason. Very interesting to see what happens.

First Take: . @CJMcCollum weighs in on Dame’s future in Portland: “The market will dictate what happens here. … If I was a betting man, I would say this is the last that we’ve seen of him [in Portland].”

IMO, Harden signs in HOU.  Dame to PHI for Maxie/Harris.  I think all 3 teams get better by this.

After they waive Chris Paul, the Phoenix Suns will have five players under contract:

Deandre Ayton - $32.5M
Devin Booker - $36.0M
Kevin Durant - $47.6M
Landry Shamet - $10.3M

Cameron Payne - $6.5M ($2M guaranteed)

PHX has a $1.9M TO for Ish Wainright

Guessing that the Suns stretch Chris Paul's $15.8 milion guarantee over five years at $3.16m per season

I'm also pretty sure this all but kills all SnT deals of Kyrie to PHX now unless Kyrie takes a pay-cut so Ayton is a match.

Should the Suns S/W CP3, they cannot resign him during that time at all (5 years).

Per Larry Coon:
Quote:
  • If a team chooses to stretch the cap hit of a waived player's salary (see question number 65), it cannot re-sign or re-acquire the player until the end of the original term of the contract.

BUT the Suns can abuse a loophole here. If they just eat CP3's 15 mil guaranteed contract, they are able to resign him at the vet min.
Gambo (PHX version of Stein) says as such here:

From a Mavs angle, is there a world where CP3 signs in Dallas for the minimum (to be a 6th man) while Lebron forces a trade to Dallas?

Not saying I think it's likely and the jury is out on whether or not it'd even be a good move...

But it feels like a very Lebron type of move. Also got to take into account the relationships at play. Both CP3 and Lebron have said they wanted to play together. There is a ton of smoke in the Lebron and Kyrie duo wanting to play together.

In Dallas CP3 can dial it back and play the vet leader he loves to play, along with being on a stacked team (yet again).

Another scenario is that CP3 just signs with the Lakers for their exception and circumvents all of this complicated cap finagling that would be needed for Lebron deal to Dallas. But this idea hinges on the rumor that Lebron and Kyrie want to team up. There is a lot of smoke there, and the fact the Mavs can offer CP3 a fairly large role coming off the bench also adds some weight to it.

Is anyone willing to eat Shamet´s contract (3/33)? I guess that´s the only way out if the Suns want to move Ayton for a bigger contract.
