AROUND the NBA: ATL Jumps from #10 to #1 in Lotto| Pistons Mull Firing GM

This is yet another reminder that all the calls to grab Holmes are really misguided. If a team is open to PAY him to go away, because they can't find a taker to simply take him off their hands, he's just not that good, and/or he is massively overpaid.

LeBron made a career high 9 3's and scored 46 pts in a 133-115 loss to the Clippers, they're 10th straight loss to LAC. LeBron is just 178 pts behind Jabbar. Clippers starting to jell.

Are they? They are 5-5 over the last 10, and barely over .500 for the season.

Of course, compared to what the Mavs are doing right now, being average looks great. So there's that.

After the early injuries to PG and Kawhi, I would think so. You lose your top 2 players in and out the lineup to injury and see how you fare. Like N.O. you can't get a read on them until Zion and Ingram come back, yet they are still hanging on to the 4 seed. So there's that.

I don't see anything special about what LAC is doing. And about half the time that Kawhi misses a game, I'm not even sure if the "injuries" are really the reason (more so Kawhi, but sometimes PG too). Instead, more like the "load management" aka just letting them skip a game.

The W's that LAC have accomplished in the last month aren't exactly a who's who of the league's elite either - besides DAL, they have only beaten LAL, SA, HOU, TOR, DET, CHAR, WAS, which is basically the dregs of the league.

Ok, fair enough.   We're at the halfway mark.  Not worth getting into a pissing contest about it.  We'll see how things shake out.  That's your opinion and nobody's convincing you otherwise.

At this point? No, of course not, the Clipps haven't done anything at all to be convincing.

In the last 10 games, they are 5-5 -- which is actually slightly worse than their overall win rate. They haven't beaten a single team that's elite in over a month. There's nothing in any of that to say they have changed direction; they look good when playing the scrubs, then lousy when playing the good teams.

In case you're wondering, the Clipps are 13-12 with Kawhi. They are also 13-12 without him. The only really good team they beat with him playing was a win over BOS in LA in early Dec.

That's not to say it CAN'T change for them. But it hasn't at this point, just the same ole same ole.

If they start spanking the big boys with some regularity, or start winning 7 or 8 out of every 10, then it's time to look again. But sometimes teams with high expectations never put it together, for whatever reason. So like you, I expect they eventually will be quite good (just because of the talent), but it hasn't happened yet and we're 60% of the way through the season. So maybe they just aren't who we thought they will be.

One more point - teams that win titles tend to win big in the regular season, and it's been decades since a team won less than 50 (or the equivalent, in a shortened season) and then went on to win the title. For LAC to win 50, they need to win 75% of their games from here.

It’s also a reminder that there’s a chance he might be the second best player on the team.

Wonder if they would have interest in a 3X NBA champion who is well rested?

Dame with another 60 piece in a 134-124 win vs the Jazz. He shot a efficient 21-29 from the field and 9-15 from 3. It was the 4th 60 pt game of his career that ties him with Jordan and Harden for 3rd all time. Kobe has 6 and Wilt has 32.

Wow...outrageous.   Just curious....if you switched him and steph with the same casts over their careers.....how many titles does Dame have?

Nice move.   12 points in his first game.  How many people on our roster could do this one move?

Good question.  I don't have a clue as Dame's and Steph's games are very similar.
