Whats funny is they pull Josh Green out of the game quickly...but let Hardaway launch like he is Curry even on off nights.
THJ needs to go.
Most frustrating moments is when we miss a shot and unfortunately falls into his hand. He immediately pulls up and never makes it.
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

Worst on-court, non-violent behavior in the league in my opinion.
Honestly think he adds to the "dont want to play there" stigma FA's have with Dallas. Not only do they possibly not want to play with Luka and his usage...but THJ will hog the ball too.
Any savy player/agent would add verbiage in the contract with Dallas to cap their minutes in line-ups with THJ.
I highly suggest removing THJ from the team at first opportunity.

Kidd should spend more time teaching THJ that he is not a star and less time doing that with Wood. The whole team would benefit from that.

Funny perspective...I agree with you totally.
The green light should be taken away from THJ. Its passed due. Yank him immediately when he launches outside flow of offense.

Far from a hater and I agree that Powell is great in that role but I would also say this kind of ignores the fact that defenses can't try to blitz Luka with a trap when Wood is the screener because they know he's a real offensive threat.

Until last night, we felt the same way about Bullock, and maybe DFS.
Maybe Timmy will have some regression to his 40% 3P mean. And then you'll love him.
Let's call it "Overreaction Wednesday".

This is a myth though. Hardaway has two seasons under RC where he shot 39% and the rest of his career are seasons shooting sub 35%. This is his 11th season in the league. This is who Hardaway is.

Well, I agree in principle, and I'm all for working Wood into the team's plans more, and faster. In theory, his ability to score from all three levels should make this an even more effective tactic.
I just think there might be a little more involved between the ears with understanding what to do in those situations than maybe Wood has caught up to yet. But, to be fair, we haven't had a chance to see him in that situation, so far.
Still, we have seen an unreal amount of unforced errors from Wood in less "pressured" situations. I don't know how many of those silly "start moving with your pivot foot on the drive" traveling calls we're going to have to watch before he learns, for example. I think we're at 4-5 already.
I'm just saying...maybe there's some teaching going on in practice, and maybe the coaches are just as excited as we are to get him out there more. Maybe they're even just as disappointed as we are that it hasn't happened more quickly.

I thought THJ was bad last year. This year he’s brutal. He may be done.

Nice article on something anyone with eyes could see coming from a mile away. Wood and Luka are a great PnR tandem. Water is wet. Could someone please write the article that explains what it will take from a lineup perspective to let Wood start and finish games.
Again last night -15 in the Wood solo-big minutes. His with-Maxi and with-Powell minutes were great. It makes me think we need another floor spacing big as much as we need another ball-handler.

I knew this was coming, because that was the lineup for the worst parts of that 3rd quarter meltdown. In a sense, you can pinpoint Kleber going out of the game as the moment when things started to go wrong.
However, I could be wrong, but as I was watching that stretch I had the impression that the offense was the issue (at least in this particular situation) and not so much the defense. There were loads of unforced errors, bad turnovers and just a general lack of organization on offense that put the defense in a zillion bad situations. To be fair, a lot of that was Wood's fault.
I don't know the answer to your question, but when I hear people like Zach Lowe say the answer is to play Wood at the 5 and see what happens, I agree. I am sure these numbers got nuked by last night's game, but he seemed to analyze the data in a such a way as to suggest it's not Wood at the 5 that sucks, it's Wood at the 5 with Luka AND Dinwiddie BOTH on the floor that sucks.

I’ve been wondering lately how little we can get Turner for at the TDL. If it’s something like Davis, Hardy and 1 first (or expand it to McConnell for Powell and maybe sans the pick?).

IMO, you might as well send Wood out in that trade, because the writing would essentially be on the wall at that point.

Yep, so far.
Need Luka+Wood+3 defenders.

I agree that the unforced errors are becoming way to common place, specifically those travels (pretty sure he's had at least one in 4 straight games he's played in) but I would say that he has a very good understanding of how to attack those 4 on 3 situations and he's spoken to it pretty eloquently in previous interviews (that I'd have to dig up but there were definitely excerpts on either Cato's or Locked On's podcast). The first two games of the season had a lot of examples of Wood making great reads in those situations and we just haven't seen him in that spot a lot sense because defenses are now switching for the most part on that PnR.
To Dan's point about the -15 as a solo big last night, I also tend to think that was way more of us just being bad on offense and not so much his defense. We were not great on either side across the entire lineup during that stretch to be honest. Wood/Maxi pairing is still the best way to use him but you simply can't ignore how powerful that PnR is with Luka and need to explore all your combos with him as a solo big to find our what works so you can maximize Luka and Wood's time together on the floor.

They cannot play Luka this much.
They have to. He's the only sure thing on the team that gives them a chance to win every night, he bailed them out last night. Bullock and THJ play Jekyll and Hyde too often, and Kidd doesn't really trust Green yet. Improve the roster, then he'll have a chance to rest.

Unfortunately, I’m in Florida and didn’t get to watch (I feel the pain of others as my DStream app knew I was out of state). So, it makes it hard to comment on this specific game (or the prior 3 for that matter).
One thing I don’t like about the Lowe approach is if it doesn’t work you’ve further devalued an asset. But, if you can find a way to make the alternative work, you might enhance the asset pretty substantially.
One thing to bear in mind in the lineup data…I believe the Mav’s are actively protecting Wood (or certainly were early in the season). Tougher big matchups are played one way. Easier big matchups are played another. So fully unleashing Wood at solo-center is a bigger leap than we may realize.
