This team is probably not a true contender as is at this point, but it would sure be nice to see the three at the bottom play like they did the second half if the year (maxi in the playoffs)

THJ's rating makes me distrust this exorcise.
  • MacMahon doesn't expect any big moves this year because we need to hold onto our picks in order to make a big move for our version of the Jrue Holiday trade.
Right philosophy but I'm not sure Dinwiddie or Wood are our Middleton.

Tough to get more "obvious" than that.

But they didn't want Dragic so "obvious" still might be out of the MBT's grasp.

I also don´t get this "convert our pick at all costs"-mentality/plan. It´s just another Plan Powder. Instead of hoarding capspace they are waiting two years for a pick to convert. You f*cked up the last two big asset trades (Rondo/Porzingis). Why should we expect this one to go any better?

I have a feeling we´ll be the team that will grossly overpay for Durant next year and then you better win the title immediately, cause just like Porzingis the data is not your friend. Only 16 players in the NBA right now 35 or older. Only one player is averaging more than 13 PPG --> LeBron on the 3-10 Lakers playing sieve defense. Only two averaging more than 5 RPG.

Executing is worrisome, but if we can just hold onto our FRPs past next years draft, we'll control all of our future firsts which gives us as much flexibility as we've had since we moved up to draft Luka. I think that's the smartest thing to do unless a sweetheart deal presents itself.  No idea who they will chase.

I don't think it would ever happen, my ideal older guy is Lillard.

This pisses me off.   I mean who couldn't see a third ball handler was an issue?  It was most of what anyone was talking about this summer.   Where is the vision of this roster?   I can tell you right now that Frank may be able to help teams but he is not the third creator this team needs.    If this team was sold on Facu for months, then he better be able to fill that role.   If you don't know, then why did you sign him in the first place?

I can't figure if it is arrogance or incompetence but it is comical we are so early in the season and seem to have a Eureka moment realizing we need someone else who can dribble.

The obsession with geezers is perplexing.

Get young and explosive.

Maybe they saw your post and decided to try, last night.

Or maybe they were trying, all along, but just hit some shots last night.

They were terrible with Luka / SD on the floor in that game tho. Which is more or less the trend the entire season.

Luka / SD / THJ / DFS / Wood played 5 min with a -75 net.

People blame it on playmaking, when the reality is a lack of offensive creativity or plays run. We are looking like the Clippers offense with PG/Kawhi. ISO Luka / ISO SD. Hire a new offensive assistant asap.

Luka with SD -4.34 in 294 min
Luka without SD +16.76 in 189 min

Make of those numbers what you will.

Someone get this article in front of Kidd.  Can someone tell him it's better to win games 125-115 than to lose them 105-100?

Kidd is part of the MBT.  Cuban is still an idiot.  I don't think it needed fixing.

Agreed.  Some combination of the past and current MBT are the geniuses that willingly dropped a safe on THJ’s head…DP’s head…KP’s head…but drew the line at Jalen Brunson.  That guy just wasn’t worth the $$$.

Same geniuses that drafted an absolute project in Green (who I really like) over guys like Bane and Maxey.

Cuban is the biggest hurdle between the Mavs and a championship roster.  Kidd is the biggest hurdle between the Mavs and a championship scheme.

That is really interesting.  Thanks.  It makes you wonder if a short term fix (although unlikely to happen) would be start Wood, bring Din off the bench.   Luka and Wood get the game going with offense and spacing with the rest.  Not sure I like Powell starting there though.

Then Din off the bench.  If we could only replace Hardaway with a connector type (Conley type), than I would like that rotation.  That is probably not realistic so we just have to hope Hardaway can become a reliable, goodish player again.
