Next time put a bonus in this guy's contract for every game they win.

From the random observation file, it just occurred to me that Spencer Dinwiddie and Bogdan Bogdanovich are very similar players. Bogi is a better shooter but Spencer gets to the line. Both run hot and cold. Good players, but sometimes you'd just like more. Similar money, probably similar trade value.

They are similar players.  I would say that Din is a better playmaker and could run an offense where Bogdan is strictly a secondary playmaker.  I also think Din is a little better on defense and a little better overall, but Bogdan might be a better offensive fit with Luka.

Actually think Dinwiddie is a better fit with his ability to attack, get downhill and move the ball versus LD's more methodical approach. Gives this team another look, especially when LD's off the floor. This was a topic all night last night on the broadcast and post game and I expect the narrative to continue.

As good as DFS and Bullock have been they are both primarily shooters who lack the ability to consistently attack closeouts. Same with Kleber. I'd honestly like to see how this team looks with some THJ minutes. He's another guy, like Dinwiddie, with a little more dimensionality to his game.

There are certainly times this team looks better with Brunson and Dinwiddie pushing the pace, especially the way Brunson repeatedly gets in the lane and starts the blender. Dinwiddie didn't seem as aggressive to score last night, but he racked up 8 assists off the bench by being quick with his reads and moving the ball to open shooters.

I think that is what drives me crazy about Dorian.  His handle isn't great and his short floater game is poor, but he has some ability to drive and when he uses his wingspan for those silky smooth layups (two last night, I believe) or a drive and kick, you know he has some ability there.  He just needs confidence and to do it more.  I guess the flip side to the frustration is that he can again elevate his game.  He's such a good shooter now that he's going to get a lot of guys flying by if he uses a quick pump fake.  And speaking of lack of aggression, I wish he'd heat check a little more from deep.  He's still a little too hesitant when he has a bit of day light and either passes the ball or pump fakes himself into being covered.

I personally think Dinwiddie is a keeper, and is in the exact right role as 6th man.

He’s not going to equal the contribution we hoped to see from KP, but has already shown that he’ll far exceed what Porzingis contributed in reality.

Still not convinced that it’s not Cuban making these deals, but I basically like every roster move they made this year.

Dinwiddie showed up on a video about weirdest contract clauses.

Did you know we cost him one whole dollar by not winning the title? He also missed out on a 571K bonus in his contract had he reached the ECF, kind of a hard one to meet here.

I think he's a keeper in most scenarios. However, there's not many tradeable contracts of the Mavs roster. I think there's a small chance he gets traded. If he does, I will assume the incoming player will provide skills to off-set the loss.

I do like Dinwiddie as a Maverick though.

That bonus is for Conference Finals, and has been met for 21-22, which impacts not only what Mavs pay this season, but also what his cap hit will be in 2022 free agency (not that it really matters). Its now going to be classed as Likely rather than Unlikely.

He also met bonuses for earlier playoff successes.

He also had a possible bonus for making the NBA Finals which was not met.

Yes, pretty obvious that anyone can be traded at any time, for the right purpose (though Luka getting dealt is unlikely to the point of near impossibility, of course).

My comment was meant more as an acknowledgment that yes, Dinwiddie IS a fit here. I'm sure he had a few fans here before the trade, but I was not one of them. I vastly underestimated what he brings to the table. Considering he was in the first season off of a major injury and that trade deadline additions don't typically fully acclimate to their new teams until they've had a chance to go through off-season training with them, I'd say we can expect some good things from him moving forward, if he's here. I REALLY like him in the 6th man role, too. Hardaway is not at all suited to a bench role, imo.

I did too, but that's what we get when something like "playmaking" isn't fleshed out in a statistic. His ability to go into the paint to score is also something I underestimated having been lulled to sleep by the planting of half our lineup on the corners waiting to shoot a 3-ball. I must have forgotten that there are players other than Brunson and Luka that can actually drive into the paint and score.

He is a big dude.   I know Ben Simmons isn't going to be in Dallas, but adding a player like him would make this team big across the boards with 3 guys with guard skills.   I am really interested when they add their third creator if he is big or if they go against the grain with a smaller guy.
