LMAO. Obviously they held back on making this extension announcement publically, so they can pour a little water on their dumpster fire. Classic Cuban deflection tactics and obviously working.
Guess that also means they couldn´t convince Brunson yet.

The DFS extension makes sense financially, since it means they are under the "MLE+20%" parameter you'd want to pay for a 3-and-D guy who is mostly valued for the D. He can't get a starting salary more than about MLE (projected) + 15% in an extension.
The timing also makes perfect sense -- they must have been delaying doing such a deal, in order to leave the door open to the possibility he might have been needed for a bigger trade. Once the deadline is past, the deal is offered, and done.

Can I start the "why can't Dorian be a superstar franchise cornerstone thread?" now?

So if we assumed all things remain as is, we basically know what Brunson's potential contract would do to us luxury tax wise at this point, no?

So if we want Dragic we'd have to release either Frank, Burke, or Green.
I don't really like any of those options.

I would easily dump Burke and sign Dragic if it kept Luka happy
Frank plays better defense than Burke
I would not get rid of Josh Green

How about we release Sterling Brown, although I like how he was playing I would prefer Frank over him and Burke over him any day.

Assuming the Mavs accept Greens option and Burke accepts his player option, the Mavs are sitting at 150 mil in salaries. I think the luxury tax is 147 for next season.
Brunson would put us 20 mil over the luxury tax assuming he gets his 4/80 deal he's looking for. THJ+Bertans is about 36 mil of nothing.

They will likely dump THJ for picks or something else.

What Dirknows said.
If I was a betting man the Mavs are probably going to trade THJ+Green for John Wall in the summer. And give up a 1st to do it.

Why start a thread about something that we both know has already happened???
Doesn't take a fortune teller to see that either Dinwiddie, Bullock or THJ will be gone before the beginning of next season. Maybe two of them if they want to keep Brunson.

No idea, but less than it would've cost to turn KP into no money at the same time, and who knows, maybe they'll be able to combine some things and do a 2-for-1 now that actually makes sense for the roster? They were NEVER going to be able to do that with a MAX deal. Never.
