Thank God the WCS era is over. I cannot fucking believe we picked up his team option in the first place.

Why wouldn't we? We were over the cap, and his salary was useful for trade matching at TDL. There was no downside except a few million out of Cuban's pocket.

His salary was as useful as the player himself as evidenced by him being waved. The fact we gave him a contract in the first place is still ridiculous.

That's a good point that I think is often overlooked (at least by me). I got so used to past teams always full of vets that I forget this team is really young.
Remember when "young" on the Mavs meant someone that was 26?

This is the starting lineup I’ve been waiting to see! This lineup should feature KP/Luka in a pick and roll along with a secondary ball handler in Brunson. Kleber and DFS for 3 and D. IMO this is what we should roll with over the next several weeks up to the trade deadline to see and KP/Luka can work together. If not then KP needs to go. KP is a good player maybe even an ALL-Star. But if he can’t/won’t play pick and roll with Luka then we need to find a big who can or will.

Quote:Harrison acknowledged that the Mavericks have been busy when it comes to fielding inquiries about potential trades. But that doesn’t separate this season from any other.
“How busy is it? I don’t know because this is my first time. I have nothing to compare it with,” the first-year GM said. “But I think there is a lot of conversations going on and if I go back to my old world, that was always the case.
“But a lot of the conversations that happen, most of the stuff is just conversations. That’s it. I don’t think it’s anything different than what’s happened in the past.”
No general manager can ever rule out the possibility of making deals as the February 10 trade deadline approaches.
However, Harrison believes that the Mavericks have shown in the past few weeks – winning seven of eight going into Saturday’s game – that their best days are ahead of them, particularly if they can stay healthy for an extended stretch.
“I think you can always improve,” Harrison said. “But I look at our team and we haven’t been whole for a while. I’m excited to see, as everybody’s back, how we are now that we’re whole.”

The Twitter thread on WCS is filled with folks from other teams begging to sign him. Regardless of how you do in one place, a 7ft defensive guy will keep getting chances somewhere else. Hope it works out for him and more importantly hope everything is alright with him.
