Good opportunity for the Mavs to get the offense going.

That's an interesting talking point, actually.

Do we feel like Finley is worthy of such an honor? Kidd? Terry? Anyone else, or will it be quiet until the day DFS's #10 goes up?

I'd probably do Fin and Jet, but not Kidd.

Would love to do something with the Finishing Five, but not sure how that would work. Might be better just to do something with all the 2011 names on it, but maybe we already have that.

No way, Joe Hassett has dibs!

Tyson Chandler should be next.

It will never happen but I have outside hopes for JJ.

Jet over Finley but I'd be fine with neither.

Maybe my standards are to high but I think Dirk the only Mavs player that deserves it. A little bit to late to change it but I would take the rest of the names down. As a younger franchise the Mavs lack some history and I get that they wanted to honor some of their better/loyal players but it´s just not the same. The Lakers or Celtics have valid cases for 10+ jersey retirements. Let´s be honest Dirk is the only one that would make their list.

Can't go backwards, of course, but I agree.

So this is a vote for Dirk and DFS only, while pretending the first three don't exist. I think that's where I am, too.

Just forget to raise them when we get a new arena.  Whoopsie.

Were you guys along for the ride for the 80's crew? I think the franchise storyline matters, and I think the 80's team should have gotten a rep. So I'm completely on board with Ro being in the rafters. I wouldn't have done Brad though.

This might not be popular, but if I could only have one of JET or Fin, I'd take Fin. And my franchise storyline comes into play again. The 80's should have Ro. The 3 Js didn't earn a rep. But Fin was the bridge. I think the franchise started to turn the corner under Fin's watch.

So I'd have (if we could also remove)...

Ro, Fin, Dirk

I'd be more than happy to see Finley up there with Jet, Kidd and JJB down the road.

After we retire numbre trois for Roddy of course.

That´s fair. It´s also difficult to predict the future and that seems to be a problem for most career honors. Including the hall of fame or as a more recent example the NBA-75 team. Would have been a bad look to remove players from the list even though they wouldn´t make a completly new list today.

As much as I love JET, I think Findley deserves it as he was the sole flower growing on the DAL compost heap before Dirk and Nash, and better times, arrived.

At least Fin should go up first, then you could follow with JET in a year or so.

So much this...he survived the Perot era and always played hard and never complained...he was very loyal to the team and fans...

How many current NBA players would do that?...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

The more exclusive the better which is why I'd go with neither of either.  Not that I'd be upset about Fin or Jet getting the nod.

Jet had some massive games in the title run.  But if that's how to gauge worthiness, Tyson Chandler should go up, tenure be damned.  He's a BIG reason why we won the title.

I do kind of prefer the idea of a showcase of that 2011 team.  That way you could honor everyone and everyone on that team helped win a title.

I guess I'm in the minority and think jersey retirements are one of, if not THE greatest honor a team can hand out and should be reserved for only the best of the best and should be rare.

Fin played a huge part in the Mavs revival in the late 90s, but he left for the Spurs after getting amnestied which disqualifies him. Same with JET, Nash, and Kidd. All amazing Mavs, but to me all fall short a jersey retirement status.

The only player that has a real shot to me currently on the Mavs is Luka and even then he has a very long way to go.
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

You mean in addition to DFS, of course.
