Captain obvious here but just because Pinson and Chriss are replacement players, it doesn't mean they won't get corona themselves. One can envision a situation where teams add a guy or two every day for the next month or more.

It could get really fun when the Big3 names start going off the board ...

Maxi was infected about a year ago. Combined with his back injury, it seemed to take him off his game for the rest of the season. Now he has a new case?

What's the deal with Eugene's foot? Disappointing that he can't get into the rotation when there are minutes to be had.

I guess this means that KP is OK, despite missing much of the 3rd & 4th quarters in MIN?

Did I hear Luka is targeting the 12/25 game for return?

Last I heard, his status was questionable, with right toe soreness.

1) Maxi has entered H&S protocols, but we don't know if he has COVID, at least, none of the reports I saw said he tested positive.

2) I don't expect it will effect Maxi the same if he does get it. The latest study in Qatar looked at 250,000+ (unvaccinated) people for a year after they got it. Out of that group only 1304 got it a second time, and almost all of them were extremely mild symptomatically. Only 4 cases required hospitalization - 0 ICU stays and 0 deaths. Having it once, from every study I've read and I've tried to read everything I could on that, if you even do get it again, which is rare, usually results in a mild case that isn't that big of a deal. If he's vaccinated and I expect he is, that's another layer of protection.

3) That sucks about Eugene...hopefully he'll be back.

4) Not only was KP changed to "questionable", but also to "right TOE soreness", which is a whole lot different than a pain in the arch, the way I understand it. I'm only a layman there, so grain of salt.

5) I heard people speculate on that, because it's a big national game on Christmas, but I haven't seen anything official on that. A lot of people were also speculating because it didn't really look like Luka was visibly limping and he wasn't wearing an ankle brace or anything as he went through full workouts before games. Who knows?

The Mavs already have access to Hunt and Carlik when they want them. The NBA is forcing them to replace the guys who are out with other players.

It's a little different with Hunt and Carlik (who have G-league deals) than with Omoruyi and McLaughlin (who have 2-way deals). But my educated guess is that there's something about not interrupting their G-league deals that goes into the decision of looking for outside options.
