2021-2022 MAVS NEWS: 4th in West | WCF loss [ARCHIVED]

And it makes the Bullock signing all the stranger.  At least when they went after Delon and JRich, those were guys with some, albeit overrated, ball handling and creation skills.  From a one dimensional standpoint, we already had our stable with DFS/Maxi and a hope and a prayer with Green.   Schröder signed a deal for less than 6M, Caruso starting at 8.6M.  Either would add dimensions this team sorely needs.

Forget about the salary numbers. Pretend the Mavs paid Frank 10m-per and took a min-contract punt on Reggie. Now everything looks fine. If the coach can think the same way.

Remember the salary numbers and think about THT, Caruso, Schröder and Frank.

Sure .. in an ideal world the FO wins every trade and makes every +ve FA decision.

However, in reality that doesn't happen. Some decisions are better than average and some are worse. My suggestion was just something about looking at the balance of what was done (solely on the ~12m in Frank+RB salary) and not necessarily being so disappointed that the shiny, expensive toy turned out not to be so interesting as the cheap, matt one.

Otoh, I, biasedly?, agree the Sterling Brown money doesn't seem well spent.

[edit] My overall point in this is that Frank should typically be playing 30m and Reggie 10m, whereas today the numbers were 11m and 28m.

The coaching staff is getting there - Kidd's preseason estimation was that Frank was a throw in to gee-up the last players on the roster in camp, and he [Kidd]'s obviously figured out some stuff since then. But extremely slowly.

Now, that's not to say that Frank doesn't have flaws. He evidently does. He clearly doesn't really feel confident playing with Luka, at all. However, those are all superable, imo.

I think ^^^^ Iztok's criticism of Kidd is legit here, no question....BUT even then the Mavs players had PLENTY of open looks in the 4th to get that win. Kidd can do better, but he isn't the "main" problem right now. There are lots of problems.

Barkley was right in what he said about Dallas.  If they don't be careful, they will waste another transcendent talent's future as they did with Dirk's.  Dirk was able to help get their only title, fortunately.  But, it seems that they could have had more.

What Cuban forgot to mention is that the new ball is ALSO leaking refined carbs into Luka through his hands. The new ball is ruining EVERYTHING!!!

I know your comment is in jest but Cuban making excuses here is a bad look.

Does he not realize other teams also play with the exact same ball? It seems like only the Mavs are the ones that are consistently missing wide open threes over and over. And coaches game plan of only shoot threes amplifies this issue.

Cubes can make all the excuses he wants, but at the end of the day the people getting paid millions need to do better. Thats it.

Look at Rubio's play at 7:45.

That is what we are sorely missing. That sort of heady high IQ vet presence. We're not getting that from Brunson, Burke, Frank, and heck even Luka this year.

Again. I feel like this is one of those times where the Mavs have to make a trade just to make a trade.

I'm fine sending THJ and getting back a sub optimal package if it can empower the next move. Mavs need to get out of this "I only hit home runs when at bat" mindset. Sometimes the single is just as impactful.
