Texas Legends 2021
#1
The Legends got their first win last night.  I believe it was preseason though against the Salt Lake City Stars

Carlik Jones was 8-13 with 18 points.  No turnovers, 4 assists and 1 rebound
Feron Hunt was 6-12 with 14 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds
McLaughlin was 3-8 with 8 points
Some guy named Loudon Love had 12 and 11.

Legends have an NBA champion on the roster. Cannot say the same about the Mavs.

Must be an all-time start record for them as Mavs affiliate.

So interesting that some players like Justin Jackson or Dominique Jones can shoot the lights out just a level below the NBA, but can´t throw it in the ocean, when it comes to the next level. Similar to Sarge, who was like Jerry Rice catching balls in the G-League, but in the NBA he became Ericka Scissorshands.

If Jackson keeps it up somebody will give him another shot.

Dynasty?    Ha

I really didn't think Jones had that in him.    I wasn't high on him in the summer league but since then he has really impressed.

It feels like the Mavs have really put a lot of thought in these players.   Most are long shots ever to have an extended run in the NBA, but you never know.   Eugene, Jacquiri, and Jones are three guys who are at least intriguing.  Then you have some developmental guys in Hunt and Onu.   And then a guy who never really hit but is still grinding in Jackson.   It is an intriguing roster.

Just because it is miniscule you ever find an all star or even a long term contributor doesn't mean you punt trying to field a competitive team.   The more smart moves you make, the better chance you have one hit.

In years past, the Legends teams have had no one who was a potential NBA player.  It was depressing.   Moses Brown and Frank Jackson were on loan with other teams.   We did have Cam Payne for a minute but I was also surprised the G-league team was almost handled as an annoyance.

Great! Yet ANOTHER coach that won’t play Josh Green. First RC, then his national team coach, then Kidd, now the Legends coach!

So I decided to watch the Legends game tonight that is going on now.  Pretty cool a good # of Dallas Mavs are at the game.  Luka, Boban, Frank, DP, Maxi, Hardaway and Brunson.    I think Kidd and Nico are there as well.  Really cool for the guys to show up on a Saturday night.

Josh Green so far looks really good.  I would like to see him try to attack the basket to score more, but his shot looks pretty good and he is playing much more free out there.    He really has a very nice feel for the game as well.

Moses Brown is  HOF G-league player.   He probably isn't ready for minutes yet in the NBA consistently.  He needs to firm up his game in certain parts.  But he has shown some nice touch inside and is just so big and active that he causes a lot of problems on offense and defense.

A person can go to the Legends site, find the scheduled game and watch it online:

Carlik Jones highlights.  Check out the Josh Green pass at the 50 second mark.  Good stuff!  You could make the point that in the G-league Green should try to finish when he gets the ball in there, but just a really advanced feel for the game to get the ball to Jones at the top of the key.
