As I see it, we have 4 bigs getting minutes KP, Maxi, Powell and WCS and Bobi for special occasions. Brown will eat into Bobis and WCS minutes at best. DFS might get some time at the 4.
As we will load manage KP this seems totally reasonable.
I would like to get a playmaker as dire as you, but he must be a safer upgrade than a washed and constanly injured Gordon, to part with Powell.
It all depends on a role you see a player in. If Powell will be used as "much" as he was last season, he is totally expendable and I rather move him and give his minutes to WCS and Brown. As we have it now, one center is totally redundant and I rather commit 10 mpg to a prospect than "nothing special vet". As long as Mavs are clearly not committed to win now, they should at least develop a prospect. Powell might be better now but the difference in quality between him and Brown is not the difference which would bring Mavs into a contender. Developed Brown might be way more important a couple of seasons from now.
If you think Powell will be a starter, than I agree a trade for Gordon doesn't make sense. But I don't see him in that role. I believe Luka should be surrounded by shooters, all four of them.

Powell for Bertans? WAS already have Kuzma/Hachimura in that PF spot.
We just paid a whole lot of money to a guy that went 9-29 (31%) on FG and 3-20 (15%) 3-pt% in both our win or go home elimination games last couple of playoffs. SMH

Lol. I'm just picturing Morey finally trading Simmons to Houston but ending up with Wall as the headliner instead of Harden.

You know I was just thinking about this the other day. It just makes too much sense. Wall, even as a shell of the player he used to be, would be a good fit for philly.
If Houston want to find a home for Wall like they say they do, they have limited options and would likely be willing to give up an asset or two to get out from under the wall contract and jumpstart their rebuild with more young talent.
I don’t think either side loves the deal, but I don’t think either side has many other options to achieve what they want.

Houston would love that deal. I have a very hard time believing Morey can't do better for Simmons. If I was a Houston fan I would be praying so hard.

I think Maxi should play lower minutes than last year and KP shouldn´t play over 30 min either. I can see Brown or Bobi getting minutes here and there but that´s it for them.
If you trade Powell you bet on WCS playing starter minutes in a productive way every day.
I can see where you come from - 4 non-shooting bigs - but Bobi and Brown are kinda sharing a spot and keeping Powell might be better for Browns development.
If he even makes it trough the camp.

LMAO. I wondered if this article was out of the Onion after reading that part.

Starting to feel like Portland, especially given all the Lillard drama from over the summer.

They always made the most sense on paper too. They have the piece that makes sense for Philly who wants to win now and fits in CJ. They're desperate for a shakeup too.
And Simmons does theoretically fit pretty well alongside Lillard. Honestly surprised they haven't pulled the trigger sooner.

Roy Williams, that's a name from the past. JJ gave him a boatload of money.
