The number of bodies are fairly meaningless to MEM. Their process has been to try to whittle down dead salary, and perhaps pick up something of value along the way. They started with Bledsoe, who they could have waived at a dead salary cost of $22.025M. Now - Oturu (1,517,981), Culver (6,395,160), Dunn (5,005,350), Edwards (1,782,621), dead money (Rondo waived 4,858,309), pick swap ....If they stop here and waive them all, the wasted money is now only $19.56M. I wouldn't be surprised if they plan to keep Culver (recent #6 pick, but an NBA disappointment so far). I suspect there is more dealing (or buying out) still to come.

So unless this last deal is expanded and Hernangomez actually going somewhere else, their task has become much more difficult. Unless the plan is to trade Horford for less salary

Damn, Brooklyn has been quite active today. Smart move by both teams. Detroit gets 4 future seconds (don't know if they're worth much but picks nevertheless) and buys out Jordan who will probably join Team Geritol (Lakers) while Brooklyn saves 47 million in salary and taxes. Aldridge re-signing with them also made him expendable. Okafor was probably getting released, and they were tired of waiting for Doumbouya to show them something. Weaver has totally flipped that roster from the SVG regime.
Any interest in getting tipped to take one of these guys into the TPE?

With all the average level depth we have, it would be difficult to find minutes for this kind of average guys anyway, so I don't see a point of doing it without compensation

Okafor is probably a better player than Jordan as this point. Another glorious chapter in the Mavs free agency history. Wes Matthews and DeAndre Jordan basically out of the league within two years of their Mavs contracts ending. We are the free agent cemetery. It´s the last stop before your NBA career dies.

I was not familiar with Sekou besides he was drafted at #15 a few years ago when some thought he was going to be drafted in the top 10. I watched a few highlights from this year and he does not look impressive. Only 20 years old though. His former coach has some very concerning quotes about him not playing hard and not having any joy for the game on the court. I didn't see much on his hlightlights but I could only watch for a few minutes. I would say no to him as well. I actually have more interest in Alize Johnson that the Nets had to cut. He has put up really nice stats in the G-league the last year and half. We will see if he is picked up on 15 man roster, but I am sure he would be very appealing on a two way. edit--I didn't know he was 25 years old, so I am less interested now.

You said about a billion times that "the construction of the roster was not the problem" last season. Why now are you suddenly so sure they're going to almost completely turn the thing over in only two years?
