I really want Dragic, and I think he might be worth a Terry/Green level asset, personally, even if it's just for one season. But, I don't think the Mavs are currently in a position to think that way, and so I agree that it's better that they stick to their guns, even if it means no deal (which, to me, would suck).

if it came down to dwight powell post injury or future years of control of green, terry. that'd be a really bad business decision

Not in love with 35yr old Dragic but he could very well be the difference between advancing to the 2nd round or another 1st round exit.
Really have no opinion on Terry good or bad. Could be a 7th man or out of the league in a couple of years.

Everything I have been saying has ALREADY been posted on the board for you or anyone else to see.

Lol for someone following Mavs news VERY closely, you had to ask for a link that the Mavs had interest in Kyle Lowry. Only about 50 NBA journalists reported it. You even tried to convince us Stein doesnt have sources with the Mavs anymore because the interest was something you didn't agree with. This is a recurring pattern on this forum. All conversation is directed based on your GUT. If it's something you dont agree with, the Mavs are doing misdirection or the journalist doesnt have any souces. It's really frustrating posting here when reality is based only on your version of events. It's even worse because you're the most active moderator. If Rossfromlegiohoops says the Mavs want to trade KP (and you agree with it), thread titles will be changed to Mavs want to trade KP. If the most plugged in Mavs reporter says the Mavs want to do XYZ (and you dont agree), nope he's lying or misinformed. https://www.mavsboard.com/showthread.php?tid=1072&pid=99608#pid99608 Guess what? My GUT believes Josh Green is probably the holdup. If push came to shove, my GUT believe the Mavs would probably include Tyrell Terry. The reporting was the Mavs wanted to pick Desmond Bane anyway and he was picked one spot ahead of them so they settled for Terry. So at least I have some reasoning to support my GUT. (and no I'm not going looking for the article that said the Mavs wanted Bane at 31)

You’ll have to excuse Kammrath. He’s an aggy - brainwashed at fish camp.

Actually, he asked for a link showing that either Shams or Woj had reported it (and as far as I know no one ever actually supplied one). He knew Stein had reported it, and then a whole bunch of guys repeated it, but he was trying to play Sherlock in determining how much of the report was 'real' and how much was intentional 'smoke'. It's gotten a bit lost with everyone jumping at every rumor prior to the deadline, then reacting to actual news since, but I think Kamm has been making a good point in trying to track who is reporting what. The Mavs FO has had a major reorganization. Guys who used to have inside sources (Stein) may not have as much anymore. We don't have a feel yet for who (if anyone) Nico, Kidd, the new cap guy, the new analytics guy etc might be willing to leak info too or how much they are willing to negotiate through the media, etc. It's only by tracking what's reported by who and then comparing it to what actually happens that we'll start to learn that. (Right now, it's 'too small a sample size' for any certainty).

“New Orleans and Dallas are two teams with salary-cap space and strong interest in Lowry that are beginning to search elsewhere for starting point guard help, sources said.”

We know that this is "misinformation" season and with the leadership change I am very interested in who gets the real scoops and who is pushing agent agendas, etc. Thanks for articulating this better than I could.

Makes me think they are willing to move him if the price is right. Or maybe Haliburton. Fox is good and all but he's clearly not a #1 franchise player. Maybe that's why? Idk. But they are the Kangz for a reason.

Cool, thanks for providing that. I do remember seeing it now...but didn't make much of it because it was a sort of "after the fact" kind of thing. And as @"KillerLeft" has said basically the Mavs are interested in EVERYONE....but it is a question of priority and price point, etc. Stein and Hollinger made it seem like Lowry was someone the Mavs were ALL IN on, despite the early report that the Mavs only wanted him for two years. Anyways, do you remember if Woj said anything BEFORE that while Stein and Hollinger were mentioning the DAL connection all the time? Again, I am just trying to piece together the timeline and voices to get a sense of who is connected to DAL insiders now and in what way.

“The 76ers, Lakers, Mavericks, Pelicans and Heat are expected to be top suitors for Raptors free agent guard Kyle Lowry, sources said.” |
