The Mavs added players on a similar level (supposed franchise saviors) and paid more. Lakers added Howard (still a valuable backup/spot starter big). Ellington (similar or better shooter than Brown/Bullock). Ariza (proven 3&D wing).
As I predicted James Johnson love fest all over again. The Mavs failed to add a single player that would make their top 5 rotation but if you guys are happy with them you do not deserve anything better. Happy first round exit. Maybe Luka can even carry them to the 2nd round.

Who said that Bullock and Brown are franchise saviors?? Why the hyperbole?

HUGE loss for the Lakers there.
Caruso was a big part of their bench.

Sarcasm. Post that I quoted called the Lakers signings leftovers.

Can we talk about how the Lakers lost one of their best bench pieces in Caruso? AND he went east.

Money has dried up fast. I could see Mavs getting Oubre or Holmes in a SNT with their TPE at this point.

I find it admirable that you're still on the THT train. I seriously cannot see what you see in him.

Could be. Although I don't think it makes any sense for Oubre now, with all wing additions. I guess SA will throw a max offer to Collins. I doubt OKC would go for any of them

THT would have started for us in a worst case scenario. He's the defender/secondary ball handler/play maker we need next to Luka. What starter did we add? We paid our 6th man 18m per year.

Do you think any combination of Powell, WCS, Burke, Moses Brown (maybe even Brunson, Kleber) and picks is enough to get a legit starter and upgrades the roster. Dragic is okay but he wasn´t a high minutes player for the Heat in the regular season. Mavs cannot afford to load manage if they want to avoid the best teams in the west.

Money going quick and there are still guys like Holmes, Collins, and DeRozan on the board. Still lots of guys to add to the starting lineup.

Bullock kind of replaces DFS (who is likely to get paid $$ after next year).
Brunson (who is likely to get paid $$ after next year).
Trade KP along with DFS and Brunson for Dragic and Siakam??

Cap question: if, as we assume, Dallas operates over the cap and signs THJ for a number less than his cap hold, what happens to the other space?
Example: If we used cap space we’d have about 30M before THJ but no full MLE or TPE, so if we kept the 28M cap hold on Timmy to operate over the cap and sign him for 16, what happens to the other 14M?
Hope that makes sense...have to type quickly

I like THT too but the Mavs new HC who saw him up close than any of us probably played a major role in not going after him.

10.8 of that cap space is TPE

I'm mostly with you in sentiment but it is unconscionable that we are done and would be as big of a free agency period failure as any in recent history.
