I don't think AD is the problem, but I don't believe he fits on this roster with Flagg as the new franchise cornerstone. This is just going to stunt Flagg's growth imo. PJ is only 27 so I would keep Lively, PJ and Flagg as the front court and trade AD and Klay somehow for better fitting pieces. PJ continues to get better so I really don't want to trade him and he's the motor for the Mavs. I don't see how they make this roster work. I would be happy to be wrong, but it's just too big and not enough playmakers.

Miami scoring 150 in Memphis. Real unfair to FIBA opponents that Team USA got the best coach in the world for their national team.

Nah, he’s the perfect size. Any bigger and he wouldn’t be at such an athletic advantage, imho. I think he’s a 4 because he’s so good at doing the help defender things expected at that position, but either way, he’s definitely a prototypical modern NBA forward.

He's 18.  He will put on muscle.

His height and wing span are the exact same as Aaaron Gordon, a guy whose first few years in the NBA were wasted because the Magic played him at small forward.  Aaron Gordon is now the prototypical 4 in the modern NBA.

They can´t defend. They struggle to defend the 3pt line, teams run by them and there is no rim protection.

I don’t think they’ll do this, but I believe making it work would be pretty easy. Bench Lively and start AD at the 5. Ad a freaking competent two-way guard who can set up the offense and shoot. You still have your “48 minutes of quality center play.” Even better than when Gafford is involved, honestly.

Done.

Everyone’s mind will explode when they stop thinking about basketball in the 1-2-3-4-5 position labels.

Yeah I can get on board with this and I agree that they won't trade AD, just stating my opinion on the roster, but if you can get AD to play the 5, I'm on board with that. I just don't know if that's realistic. As great as AD is, he's a baby about playing the 5. I like your plan though!

He’s athletic enough that it’s not a liability, but it’s not quite what I expected too. It may just be that he’s figuring it out, overthinking, and this hesitating or probably it’s this ridiculous point guard experiment.

He got plenty of run at the 5 tonight. He just can´t or can´t be bothered to run back and park his ass in the paint.

The starting five should be AD at the 5, Cooper at the 4, PJ at the 3, Christy at the 2 and DLo at the 1. Let Klay be a 6th man with the green light. Klay may be done, but I'm still hopeful.

He TALKS about playing the 4 a lot, but so did Porzingis, and when you look back through AD’s career you see that he’s actually been a 5 more than not. It’s not like he refuses to play, or plays less hard.

The problem is with Harrison, Kidd, Vogel and whomever else over there is infatuated with this 1987 brand of basketball. That’s what I think, at least.

Him and Lively shouldn't ever play together unless it's against another twin towers lineup imo.

This is better. BWill should just start and play most of the PG minutes.
