I prefer to see it as a double threat: two guys with size who can handle the ball and relentlessly drive to the hoop. This puts incredible pressure on a defense.
So they shoot 30% instead of 35% from three. On average, less than 1 point per game difference. I can live with that, if I’m generating the kind of production around the hoop that they both do.
That's not how it works. Teams can sag off Naji because they don't mind him taking 3's. That clogs up the paint for Flagg. Flagg would be better served next to guys who demand guarding at the perimeter, giving him more space to operate.
Nobody is complaining about Flagg shooting because he is the youngest player in the NBA and already awesome. Rookies generally struggle from 3 in their first year and the hope is that he will improve (given his work ethic and skill, its likely). We are building this team around Flagg, not Naji Marshall.
