Your take is probably the prevailing one among Mavs fans and media regarding Exum, but I think it's off by quite a bit. I strongly believe that as long as he's healthy, Exum WILL play, and probably quite a lot, because he's just about the exact PG that Kidd prefers - good ball handler, runs the offense well, excellent at shooting 3s, and a plus defender. The Mavs need more than him at PG (or combo G) because his ability to stay healthy is iffy, but I expect that when he's healthy we will see him play basically every game, and around 20 mpg.
