I am surprised how little value expiring contracts have. Are there no more longer term bad salaries around?
Seems like you are either a star or you get MLE level money. I was joking a bit, but it looks teams really got very conservative with new deals in recent years. There is Patrick Williams, no one will be willing to touch that contract without significant assets attached. McDaniels contract might start to look ugly in a year or two, if he doesn't further improve his performances. Anunoby, Hart and Bridges after this season will be a problem for NY (too high salaries for non-stars). Jerami Grant is already reported to be untradeable. Toronto has a couple of guys in this range.
Miami got an absolute steal, although there is a questionable fit between Herro and Powell. They literally paid nothing for him. But, problem will be next season - are you willing to pay a 33 year old 6th man type 20+ mil for several seasons? Or will he walk for a MLE?
Looks like Clippers will get Beal. They might be dangerous, but they have a team full of injury prone players. Again
